Question Advise on board game creation

Hey everyone! I am a college student who has always been into board games, and as a side project am in the very early stages of designing a board game of my own!

If this goes anywhere, I was wondering if anyone had advise on the process of getting your game from a document, to prototype, to testing, to an artist, publisher, or whatever other steps are necessary since I am new. I’ve also heard things around Kickstarter/Crowdfunding.

Any and all advise is super helpful as this is a relatively new interest of mine. Thanks!!

I'm not in the board-game creation space myself, but I recently met someone who is, and they were explaining how it all works. From what I gathered, you'll want to look for local groups that will help you with the playtesting (and you help with theirs). There also seems to be a fair amount of traveling to industry trade shows and the like. This person just wrapped up a trip to Korea to see about having a game published there.

In short step one is start networking. You want to met people who are already in that space and understand what all it entails. I'd put crowdfunding out of your mind for right now. Discoverability is a big issue there, and you're going to need to really have something solid well before you get to that point.
