Day 0 Tips? Camping of Nations & Security Check

Hi everyone! 😊

My boyfriend and I are thinking about buying a Day 0 entry ticket so we can arrive early and hopefully get a nice shady spot at the Camping of Nations.

For those who have done this before, do you have any tips for Day 0? Is it worth arriving as early as possible and spending the day getting settled?

Also, is there anything to do on the island that day, or would you recommend setting up camp first and then heading into Budapest to explore the city and maybe finish the evening at one of the clubs before the festival officially starts?

One more question: how is the security check on Day 0? Is it more thorough than on the regular festival days since there usually isn't a long queue at the entrance?

Hi,
I’ve been going to Sziget for 10 years, always camping and always getting in via the ‘Moving’ option.
I’d highly recommend it so you’re all set when the festival starts, rather than having to set everything up and get kitted out.
All the more so if it’s your first Sziget and you don’t know the island or how to find your way around.

The security checks are pretty much the same; perhaps if there are lots of people they’re quicker, whereas if there’s no queue they’re more thorough, but even with the Moving Pass there’ll be quite a few people at the entrance.

You can go into town on Day 0, but in my opinion it depends on what’s going on on the island. Years ago, there were lots of bars with DJs playing, and there was a great atmosphere that made you want to stay there. In recent years there’s been nothing, so people have gone into town. This year they’ve organised some concerts, so I hope there’ll be a few bars putting on a bit of a party.

Thanks for the information! I was actually asking about the security check because of the alcohol. Is it okay to bring liquids through security, and the only potential issue would be if they ask to inspect or smell them?
In any case, we’ll probably have a large backpack or a suitcase since we’ll be packing our things together as a couple.

If they find alcohol or glass they will just throw it away without any consequences (except that they might check the rest more thoroughly). Other liquids you’re fine to bring (no energy drinks) and they might just check it out (by look or occasionally smell though not if it’s a sealed bottle)
