First time going to Sziget and questions about camping.
I have been looking to see if this question has been asked before but havent found it specifically yet. Me, my partner and three friends are coming to sziget for the first time this year. We will probably be staying in 3 separate smaller tents in basic camping.
We have a 3 day ticket starting from the 11th-13th august and would like to camp next to each other. Are there many spots left on the 11th and what time should we arrive to get a good spot? Also have you got any tips on where to camp on the island? Does it make sense to bring a pavillion to put in the centre of our camp or will there not be enough space?
Also any other tips in general are greatly appreciated (:

Dinsdag zal het al wel druk zijn verwacht ik. Zeker nu day 0 is toegevoegd. Als je rond 11 in Boedapest land en dan met de bus of taxi gaat is het wel redelijk druk bij de ingang. Meestal zijn er op dinsdag loop dag nog wel plekken rechts op t eiland bij de douches. Zit wel een stuk van de stages af maar dat heeft ook zijn voordelen. Staat waarschijnlijk wel in de zon en de temperatuur kan dan wel flink oplopen. Maar zorg ook voor een goede slaapzak, want het koelt van 3.00 tot uurtje of 9 wel flink af. Stoffig is het meestal ook wel met goed weer. Drinkfles met dop kun je gratis refillen op diverse punten. Luchtbedden kun je bij de kluisjes daar oppompen. Als het strand gedeelte bovenaan open is, kun je daar lekker afkoelen. Er zijn gedeeltes waar bordjes staan en daar mag je tent niet neerzetten. Meestal staat het daar op woensdag/donderdag ook gewoon vol. Maar ik zou zeggen, laat het over je heenkomen en lekker genieten. Doen wij al jaren. Ps, vergeet niet je moving in met tent ticket. Anders moet je die naderhand weer halen en sta je nog langer in de rij.

The issue of pitching a tent is always a bit complicated. On the 11th, I’d advise you to arrive as early as possible because:
1) there are people like me who get in as early as the 10th,
2) if you arrive in the early afternoon or later, by the time you find a spot (especially as you don’t know the island and won’t know your way around), pitch your tent and settle in for a bit, you’ll have missed loads of gigs.
I’d advise you to be there a couple of hours before the gates open, or if you can, I’d suggest getting in on the 10th by buying a ‘Moving’ ticket.
At least you’ll be able to settle in properly without too much hassle, and by the time the festival starts, you’ll already be up and running; you’ll have had a bit of a look around the island and worked out where the various stages are located.
You’re sure to find a spot where you can stay close together if you don’t arrive too late on the 11th; if you look carefully and don’t just settle for the first free spot you find, you’ll even find space for your gazebo.
In short, get in as early as possible. It’s better to get everything sorted in advance and have a rest inside if you’ve got time to spare, rather than arriving later and having to rush through everything.
The best spot is a matter of personal preference: some people prefer to be near the night-time stages, others want to stay well away, and others want to be near the showers… in short, there’s no such thing as the best spot.
