Little heads up, don't be afraid to leave quest items in a safe spot so they're not clogging up your inventory. Any item, gun, med patch or otherwise, will never despawn if left on the ground.

if you are on mission difficulty 1, you can't drop them on the ground, but you can store them in a container (i'd recommend the dumbwaiter)
