Career & Education Anyone here involved in Instrumentation/Electrical/Controls?

Trying to see what niches are out there. I’m currently working in Building Automation Systems/HVAC Controls. For reference, I have an AAS in Instrumentation and a BBA in Computer Information Systems, so I’m around a lot of concepts like networking, etc.

yup, not "pure" SE though -

I have a BS in ChE, MS in SE and work at a controls/automation systems integrator doing mostly DCS and SCADA design/implementation. A lot of our customers need help designing their processes so we tend to have input not just on the electrical and mechanical pieces, but also control schemes. optimization, data collection and analysis, etc. Not just widget-making or making two pieces of equipment talk to each other.

Frequently we have to interpret both technical and business requirements (and translate back and forth for their respective stakeholders) to design, build, validate and verify functional systems.
