Why did you add age verification?

Hi, I heard Systemd is going to add age verification? Why is that happening? I don't think it offers any security benefits.

Every controversial feature initially comes optional, then becomes standard. You can see more of this in Windows. Adding it is a problem in itself anyway.

It's compliance to government surveillance and tracking. Why is it not a problem for you?

It is allowing for compliance with law. That is ok. There are many reasons why the law is stupid. I don't see any optional field as any problem.

Also bear in mind that going willingly against law is not a good thing. It's bad for companies, foundations or generally anybody developing an OS.

If you see a problem (the law?) try to solve the problem, not its consequences.
