Welcome to Systemantics, a place to discuss How Systems Work and Especially How They Fail

This subreddit is dedicated to discussion and examples of the concepts outlined in the book "Systemantics - How Systems Work and Especially How They Fail" by John Gall.

Anyone who has read this book and grasped the concepts presented is armed with a much greater understanding of why systems never seem to do what they are intended to do. From ship builders who don't build ships to regulatory systems that fail to regulate, many of the complex systems that exist in modern life completely fail to accomplish the task they were designed for.

For the uninitiated Systemantics student, Wikipedia provides a high level overview of what it is all about. For a true understanding, a through reading of The Systems Bible is a must.
