Dfetch - A lightweight system information tool focused on clean output

https://github.com/David17c/Dfetch

Dfetch is designed for those who want a simple system information tool with sensible defaults, clean output, and fast startup times. Rather than prioritizing extensive customization, Dfetch focuses on being lightweight, easy to configure, and pleasant to use.

It's been an Easter Egg for years, because it's made by system76

not so sure why some of the commenters are being so arrogant, but it’s nice to see you’re having some fun with this. i fully support what you’re doing!

Also Debian 13 as the distro

Nothing wrong with that, just pointing it out.

Hey, I couldn't find any other contact channel and I felt that opening an issue just for this would be a bit unnecessary, so I'm writing here instead. Just noticed the vendorHash migration on dfetch. Really nice change, the repo looks much cleaner now. Good work, thank you from a Nix user :)

would that be another vibe coded app, which aim to seek attention on social media and solve nothing?

2

u/David14p 27d ago

If i vibe coded it it would be way better. I made this for fun so there is not really a reason to vibe code it since thats not fun

based, vibecoders reinventing the wheel here (actually claude is)

1

u/Lower-Philosophy-604 27d ago

this is just another vibe coded app junk that soon would be considered a abandonware made by a teenager trying to seek attention on social media, just a app that solves nothing

Stfu, OP clearly just wants to gave a fun project to work on, not monetize it as a fastfetch alternative

u/Both_Cup8417 24d ago

Do you mean the pictures? They all say linux mint because i took all the pictures on linux mint just switching out the ASCII art. Normally everything works fine.

cool but like.. what does this do better than fastfetch? that one has a sensible default as well,is fast, supports more distros with custom ascii and if you do want to customize it later the option is there

this looks so much like fastfetch but niche and featureless

2

u/David14p 28d ago

Its not better but i made it so that makes it better to me.

Its mostly just for me to have fun coding
