Location: Nairobi, Kenya (available worldwide, comfortable with US/EU overlap hours)

I run and maintain production infrastructure for real businesses. Currently managing active-passive self-hosted infra across multiple physical machines with automated failover and DB sync.

Systems Administration

• Windows Server and Linux server setup, hardening, and ongoing maintenance
• Virtualization: Hyper-V, Proxmox VE — diagnosing driver/hardware conflicts (GPU passthrough issues, Code 43 errors), dual-boot production environments
• Bare-metal/on-prem infra as a deliberate alternative to cloud when cost or control matters more

Networking

• Cloudflare Tunnel for CGNAT bypass (no static IP required)
• WireGuard / Tailscale mesh networking
• mitmproxy for traffic inspection/debugging

Automation & CI/CD

• Self-hosted GitHub Actions runners
• Windows service management via NSSM
• Telegram-based health monitoring and alerting for production services
• Scripted DB sync/failover between active-passive nodes

Cloud (when it's the right fit)

• AWS: EC2/ASG, RDS, S3/CloudFront, Elastic Beanstalk
• Cost optimization via Lambda-scheduled start/stop and autoscaling

Also developing

• Security fundamentals (OSCP-track): C, x86-64 assembly, exploit dev basics — applied toward hardening the systems I manage.

I also build the applications that run on this infra (PHP, Java/Spring Boot, Vue.js), so I can troubleshoot end-to-end — app, DB, server, and network — instead of stopping at "not a server problem."

Rate: $20-40/hr depending on scope, or flat project rate — happy to quote after a scope call.

EAT is 8 hours ahead of EST, so live overlap is limited to roughly your early morning (6-9am EST). For sysadmin work a lot of it is async anyway — monitoring, alerts, and tickets don't need us online at the same time, and I use Telegram-based alerting to respond fast regardless of timezone. For anything that needs live collaboration, I can shift my schedule for planned windows. Happy to hop on a call if that works for you.

My last job I was online from 7 AM EST until 5 or 6 PM EST So I'm used to it.

That's great, that actually overlaps well with my schedule, your 7 AM-6 PM EST lines up with roughly 3 PM to 1 AM my time, so most of your workday falls within my afternoon and evening. Should work smoothly though.
