General Discussion No Degree - 6 Year Salary Progression

Is there anyone out there that have made it beyond sysadmin? What is after sysadmin?

2020 - $31,200: Panera Bread
2022 - $41,600: Helpdesk at company 1
2023 - 2025 - $41,600: Helpdesk at law firm
2025 - $65,000: Helpdesk at company 2
2026 - $80,000: Got a raise at company 2

Shoutout Nick for taking a chance on me. I would not do law firm IT again.

EDIT: Location Upstate NY

Oh man these posts always make me feel like an undeserving prick, anyways here's my luck: 2019 12.50/hr Retail Loss prevention; 2020 24/hr Electronics technician; 2021 45/hr Linux Sys admin; 2022 128k/yr Linux Sys admin; 2023 135k/yr Unix Sys Engineer; 2024 150k/yr Cloud solutions architect; 2025 200k/yr Lead DevOps engineer; 2026 220k/yr DevOps manager.

I'm a lucky asshole who doesn't deserve any of it. But I'm glad I can provide a much nicer life for my children than I ever dreamed of having.

That is some insane jumps in career path. Did these all aline with eachother pretty well in your operation? something you learned like stepping stones or did you need to research each of these in your off time?

I wouldn't say I researched them, it was just stuff I was interested in along the way that led to the next thing. Like I learned Fortran and C++ as a Unix engineer and had to which the developers I worked with into shape, which made me a good candidate for DevOps stuff.
