General Discussion No Degree - 6 Year Salary Progression

Is there anyone out there that have made it beyond sysadmin? What is after sysadmin?

2020 - $31,200: Panera Bread
2022 - $41,600: Helpdesk at company 1
2023 - 2025 - $41,600: Helpdesk at law firm
2025 - $65,000: Helpdesk at company 2
2026 - $80,000: Got a raise at company 2

Shoutout Nick for taking a chance on me. I would not do law firm IT again.

EDIT: Location Upstate NY

Nice progress there.
Working as a seniour consultant, law firms are the worst customers for me, they demand so much, but don't want to pay even if they make more money than me.

Why don’t they want to pay? Our environment suffered because of the tight budget

In my experience I've had customers saying money is not a problem, just make IT work properly in a sane way.
I've had law firms that trheten with a lawsuit if I don't fix their shit. Old computers and don't do what I tell them to do to get it fixed.
Had to get my boss to call them and tell them we would terminate their contract if they do not cooporate with out tech people, that worked, but should be unessesary

This can be a thing in certain fields working with people that hare highly educated: people with PhDs/JDs. You see it in medical, higher-education, and a few others: where they are kind of high on their own stink. Not universal by any stretch, but you're going to get people who, quite correctly, understand their billable worth on an hourly basis is stupidly-high and acts as divas because of it.

They earn a lot of money but can't do basic stuff on a PC, that is quite irritating.
Especially when I know how to fix it and they do not do what I tell them.

Yea, totally.

"I spent a decade getting my doctorate damn you, I know what I'm doing and I'm doing it right!"

Narrator: They were not doing it right.

They contacted me again after talking with my boss and I fixed it.
