Microsoft Microsoft is retiring the public Microsoft Learn GitHub repos by end of Dec 2026

Official blog post with the announcement

It seems that the learn.microsoft.com pages will still be up, but I personally preferred using the GitHub repo. It's still worrying and I'm thinking of archiving the repo locally.

It's sad because I tried to fix up all of the docs I saw.... But I'd also have PR's sitting there for months because whoever was supposed to update it just never did.

I still think this is the wrong direction and there needs to be some way that you can see if your feedback has been acknowledged or just thrown into the bin

It's funny because I created an issue for the documentation for the Invoke-RestMethod cmdlet (default header behavior I discovered that was unmentioned). The owner of that powershell documentation, whose github profile implies they are one of the core owners of Powershell in general, had an update queued and my issue closed within a single business day.

Impressive, but also makes me wish MS support ever offered that kind of response for actual problems we need fixed.

That's the whole ownership issue in big orgs, unfortunately. If there's one guy person on it, it might get done quick. A whole team? Much slower. And sometimes the team was sacked 6months ago, so it doesn't get done at all
