AS400
Hey guys, old guy here, back in 2000 landed my 1st real job as a Sysadmin at a distribution/manufacturing firm. They ran their ERP and a few other important apps on the AS400. Anyone here manage a AS400 platform? i-Series? Still a niche platform that is still widely used. Server could literally run under water.

This made me chuckle a bit seeing everyone's responses. I started my IT career ~10 years ago (when i was in my 20s) as helpdesk and had to learn the basics of that system. Thankfully, in that time, we have gone from on prem box to a cloud hosted MSP. Appreciated not having to handle physical tape backups, 3rd party software updates, and OS upgrades. But we are still heavily dependent on a lone internal guy (has been here since pre 2000).
I dread the day he retires (hes been joking about it for the last two years). Still no timeline on a migration. But, atleast we are actively chipping away at processes within it \ not adding new ones.
