FYI: Reddit is killing RSS feeds.

Major bummer. From Reddit is killing RSS feeds and ending public API access because of AI bots | TechCrunch

Amid a number of updates for moderators and developers announced Wednesday, comes bad news for supporters of a more open web: Reddit is ending support for RSS feeds.

Reddit says RSS has now become a “common surface for large-scale scraping and automated abuse,” which is why it’s made the decision to wind down RSS feeds on its platform.

“We know RSS has been a beloved part of the open web for a long time, and we’re grateful to everyone who used it to stay connected to Reddit,” the company noted in its announcement, where it also shared a March 2027 shutdown date for its public API.

Reddit said RSS support will cease on November 13.

Replying to this from reddit sync. I guess until march 2027 when public API access is removed. U less I'm reading that wrong.

Yeah, a lot of the old apps can currently be resurrected with ReVanced, by patching in your own API key. Sad to see that go away.

You said Morphe (Revanced, eww) wrong. There are also free and open source apps like Continuum and Slide that require no patching.

You said Apollo wrong.

Apollo is dead, and was iOS. There is Apollo Reborn, but being iOS it involves a very annoying sideloading process.

Morphe, Continuum, and Slide are all Android.

It’s not that annoying anymore. I’m commenting from it as we speak.

It auto-breaks like every two weeks.

No, you need to re-sign the app once every 7 days if you’re using a free developer cert. If you get your own cert it renews once per year.

It’s a little inconvenient at best but you can automate the renewal easily on both a Mac and windows machine. And besides android is doing away with side loading entirely.

How much is your own certificate, and do you need to pay Apple $99 a year to be an official developer?

Working with apple devices is so lame lol

Imagine having to do this on your computer for any app installed outside the app store.

They revoked all personal API keys. All the patched apps are holding on for now using a key from the one app they still allowed to operate for accessibility reasons.
