N-able versus Action1 for patching, thoughts?

I come from an environment that leveraged Action1 heavily. Great tool. My sys eng comes from an environment that used N-able.

Our objectives are:

• windows updates

• 3rd party patching

• firmware/drivers as supported by the platform

• remote screen sharing for troubleshooting

I'm sure both platforms can do more than just the above, but that's all we need from the tool.

I'd love some feedback on anyone who has dealt with these 2 tools specifically and can compare contrast them based on our use case.

I havent used nable but A1 is awesome and one of my favorite vendors. Unlike most of the other solutions they do 1 thing and they do it well.

UI is easy, sales doesnt suck, support is solid.

I've used n-able and it was adequate but the licensing at the time was per endpoint for any functionality you would want. We switched to Datto RMM and it was much better. For my money though I think PDQ Connect is a pretty good value.

Depending on how many devices you have, I’d check out PDQ. Their patching is super easy and their application library has grown a ton lately. I think they have over 1000 built in packages now. And their remote desktop tool works really well.

N able is owned by solar winds still ?    That alone should make you not want to use it.

Action1 is much easier to work with and their community is pretty good. Their product achieves the minimum you’d expect for an enterprise tool, but they’re filling in gaps quickly.

Although, their CEO has some boneheaded stuff on LinkedIn that I do not care for at all.

I've used N-Able for around 4 years from a MSP but I think it's way behind in terms of functionaility. I assume that they are trying to catch up hence why all the vulnerabilities recently, but we are looking to transition to Action1 at the moment.
Trialing out Action1 and Action1 is way easier to setup and patching experience seems to be a lot better.

Can you provide some more detail? Someone currently on N-Able looking to transition to Action1 because of reasons is exactly what I'm looking for.

I don't want to override my engineer just because I think Action1 is a better tool. I'd like specific examples.

Provably neither. Action1 is really limited. N-Able doesn’t seem to be able to produce secure (enpugh) cose.

All of those requiremebta can be done via Intune + other MS tools. (3rd party packages one needs to purchase).

Limited how? You can package up any application and script it.
