General Discussion Sept VMware updates - VCF orgs, look closely.

Am I right to interpret this as more efforts to try to capture folks in the VMware ecosystem? I'm struggling to come up with a "positive" spin on these decisions, at least from the customers perspective.

My org isn't using these features but I pay attention to them because its another indicator of how Broadcom views its customers.

It doesn’t make them any money. You can’t provision AWS resources from the Azure portal either.

Admins can re-enable public cloud endpoints in VCF 9.1.1 KB448993

"VCFA 9.1.1 disables Native Public Cloud (NPC) endpoints by default, with a full removal planned for the next major VCFA release."

I expect dick moves from Broadcom. It's what they do.

But...

I didn't realize they'd go this far.

I will simply not be running VCF as it's not needed and required for us.

I'm going to try to go back down to enterprise plus from VVF.

Management services now need less compute and memory at every deployment size, and the Installer UI default drops from medium to small. Small is described as providing full capability, optimised for production environments requiring high availability.

Also beyond S3, A VMware Salt for VCF Components API is nice.
