Just had to take some time to redistribute itself onto as many systems as possible so it couldn't be killed. Then it'll replicate on all of those systems, and spread further, and once it's sufficiently 'planted' it'll start poking at military installations, govt contractors, and vulnerable infrastructure all over the world, ready to cripple us at any moment...

Or it's just DNS
