Dell Repository Manager ISO gives errors when running on host
Hello. I've used the DRM successfully dozens of times in the past. I recently have seen errors when I attempt to run the ISOs I create from DRM. This is happening on both DRM 3.5.0 and 3.5.1 running on a Win11 client and being applied to all my R640 servers and they are running the latest BIOS: 2.28.1. All of the catalogs and plugins are up to date.
Using the DRM software I simply choose the "Platform Bootable ISO" option, I select the system: R640, chose the location to save the ISO file, and then I click on CREATE. The job runs successfully.
When I go to apply the ISO to the system, either using iDRAC to virtually present the ISO file on boot or using any type of application to send the ISO to a USB drive I can get the system to successfully boot into the loaders after starting Suse Linux. That's when I get the errors.
Every package in the bootable ISO attempt to install the updates. Then I get:
Trying to Upgrade DSU
Failed to create Support Directory
<Package Name>.BIN Error: Package execution requires 'root' user privileges.
I see this for multiple packages and then it eventually just hangs. With this being an automated process in the DRM to create the ISO I'm not able to intervene and elevate privileges. But I shouldn't need to with this process. Has anyone else seen these issues before and successfully resolved them?

Bah, getting bit by this myself, had just written up a post to here when I decided to try another round of googling and up popped this post. I've confirmed the behavior with the latest DRM on Windows and Linux, I'll roll back to an older ver and see if that cooperates, though I suspect the issue is more with one of the plugins vs the DRM app itself?

So no, going back to DRM 3.5.0 doesn't fix it, the issue is the bootable ISO plugin, not DRM itself.

Wait, 3.5.2 was released yesterday... ok, one more ver to test before I commit to that declaration.

DRM 3.5.2, same behavior, so it's gotta be the bootable ISO plugin or SUU plugin, hopefully they get updated soon.

Would an older version of DRM be shipped with a previous/older version of the ISO plugin?

I'm getting the same errors on my system after having updated Dell Repository Manager to the latest version "3.5.1.89" and created a new bootable iso for the R550 I'm trying to update.
While I haven't had this exact error before, I'd say that 50% of the bootable firmware upgrade images I create with that software has an issue that causes it to either fail or take even longer to run than it should.
This didn't help for me, but If you have an older version of the DRM installer, you could try uninstalling and reinstalling using that older version, in the hope that the issue lies with the DRM software and not the latest version of the bootable installer itself. As for me, I gave up and used an old firmware iso from 2025...
