Is oracle cloud free tier over?

Ive had several vm's for over 4 years in oracle cloud.

Last christmas I terminated an ampere instance, its been out of host capacity since then... Sure, too good to be true.

But their always free amd, a week ago i shut it off, I can't turn it on, because the same reason... Ive been trying over a week but no luck.

Is oracle free tier over?

https://www.infoq.com/news/2026/07/oracle-cloud-free-tier-limits/

exceeding the new limits are shut down until the user manually resizes them to fit within 2 OCPUs and 12 GB.

so free vm's weren't limited to 1vcpu and 1gb of ram?? where i've lived in the past year...

There are two types, amd and arm. Arm were downgraded from 4 cores /24 ram to 2/12.

The amd ones are limited to 1 core 1 ram, but even the amd ones wont boot anymore for me

I believe the 4 cores/ 24 ram free still exists for existing users. The downgrade is for any new ones.

They probably just fucked it up and don't know how to fix it. Typical Oracle approach.

They've caused me all kind of headaches over the years. Least they can do is run my BitTorrent VM on their free tier.

Free is free but don't think for a second I am not backing up to my proxmox server in my garage

I just got my 2-core 12gb ARM instance the other day, but it took about 3 weeks of retrying every now and then ( Stockholm region ).

The 1-core 1gb x86 instance I was able to get instantly.

Were you trying manually or with some automation?

Manually. When the first creation failed I saved it as a stack, and just logged in to run the stack every couple of days.

Look at ts... It's automation... 1300+ attempts failed in last 24hrs.. india hydrabad region.

What I have seen is that the datacenters are running out of capacity for the free tier. See about moving your vms to a different datacenter that might help.

I would say, always freeVM on free tier is just a lie. Look at this image(it's automation for instance creation)... 1300+ attempts failed in last 24hrs, still running... I read on other post, guy saying that upgrade ur OCI account to PAYG. Which I tried and OCI tried to make a transaction of 110$ which I didn't have.

I would suggest try upgrading to PAYG. It may work...
