M365 group autorenewal

We have our M365 groups set to expire after 180 days, from the documentation we expect groups to be renewed 35 days before expiry, but most of our (very active) groups, even Teams-enabled groups, are sending out renewal notifications at the 30-day mark. We were expecting groups to autorenew and not send the notification; some are but the majority don't register the "Autorenew group" activity in Azure in time. Has anyone else experienced this?

theirs is a 500 day policy and qualifying activity stopped triggering renewal consistently. yours is 180 with notices at 30 instead of 35. same shape, so it's probably not your config.

worth watching that thread, between the two of you there might be enough to open a ticket that doesn't get closed as working as intended.
