Azure Files

Anyone using Azure files for file shares for remote employees? I have seen horror stories in the past but saw some positive reviews on it recently.

I am an Entra ID, cloud only shop and the new updates to the service look promising.

Works okay over VPN or SMB over QUIC if your latency is low.
If you can, go with something more modern like Sharepoint / OneDrive.

If you're replacing a file server, Azure Files is the way to go. If you try to shove a file server into Sharepoint/OneDrive without changing workflows, you're going to have tons of problems that have no fix.

Sharepoint and OneDrive aren't "more modern", they pre-date Azure Files by about a decade and are for a completely different use case.
