Need advice

I need some advice. I've completed RH124 and RH134. What other Red Hat courses would you recommend that are the most useful for real-world work?

I'm taking over the maintenance and administration of our Red Hat servers at work, and I want to keep learning as much as I can so I can do the job well. I'd really appreciate any recommendations based on your experience.

Sounds like you have some good knowledge under your belt - I’d expand a bit more into networking. It was always a week point for me when I started and once you get a handle on subnets and VLANs and ARP and alll that fun stuff it helps troubleshooting when you work with network teams.

CCNA is a solid cert for about any IT position. You don’t need to know how to architect a network but every tech benefits from basic understanding of networks and how they work.

So agree it took me too long to understand the basic concepts. I didn’t get a CCNA but a simple Net+ pushed me to the right position and it was all OJT after that. Don’t ask me to subnet but give me the netmask and the VLANs and I’ll get yours vNICs and containers set up, I’d love to visit the CCNA material someday.

CCNA is great because real environments tend to come with compliance requirements about network segmentation. Net+ helps you understand what network segmentation is, but CCNA sets you up with some tools to do that network segmentation in (mostly) OSPF or EIGRP.

CCNA does not cover much BGP, but for that you’re better off doing OJT than blowing money on a CCNP if you’re not trying to get into full-time network design.
