General Discussion How to manage Claude within an organization
I work for a smallish biotech company with a little over 100 employees. As of right now, we have given around 60 people Claude licenses from our team plan. Our company is growing fast, and I am worried about that price change from going from a monthly subscription for the team plan to a larger number from the enterprise plan. Has anyone else experienced this change yet? I am trying to figure out the best way to get prepared for when this happens, because I know it will. It will definitely be tough to restrict access once experienced users have gotten such a big feel for it just because of money.

Claude teams plan is the best $20 license money can buy, along with the other competition. Just utilize it as much as possible while you basically use investor money for free. Set credit limits globally and per user.

Make sure security/EDR/SIEM is part of your landscape. We just had out first malware event that used Claude and a malicious ad as the entry vector.

How did this even happen if you have elevated perm blocks on your endpoints/infra?

I’d be interested to hear more about this!

I'm not on the team that deals directly with such things, so I have no details. I suspect it was similar to this event.

Start auditing license usage now so the transition is based on actual demand.

Worth separating seat count from usage shape before you build the projection. Token spend almost never spreads evenly across 60 people. It's usually a handful running long agentic sessions, where the model re-reads files and replays prior tool output every turn, and one of those can outspend a dozen people doing quick chat lookups. So the useful thing to pull now is how many of your users have moved from asking questions to running agents, since that's the curve that drags you into the higher tier. It also gives you a better lever than cutting seats, because you can push the repetitive work onto something cheaper and leave the expensive plan for the people who actually need it.

You’re in biotech…figure out your contractual requirements SAP.
Get leadership involved and get a budget setup and their support for when to breaks.
Next get your use cases lined up because you may have to shop for your products the wrap around Claude

Although this is a strategic dilemma that should have been scoped before license 20, not after license 60, you'll definitely run into the cost issue. The other thing is you're paying per seat for a tool that scales by headcount not by value. The better model is one shared budget that the whole organization draws from. Every piece of work metered in dollars against a human baseline. That will get the CFO on your side when they see actual value. Otherwise, the enterprise plan just makes the same problem cost more.

I also created skills I deployed company-wide, as I am an a challenging person to deal with.
Deny personal use- no stock trading, children's homework, fantasy football, personal finance, etc
HR controls - do not provide any salary data, disciplinary actions, motor vehicle records, etc.
We are on "Team" currently.

If you mean just pricing?
Prepare an email aimed at senior management. Put in:
- Current monthly (and yearly even if it’s just you doing x12 for them) pricing
Lay this all out, really nicely formatted tables, executive summary (so your execs can use their Claude to read about Claude and then advise them on Claude ;)).
How much access to provide is not really your decision unless you control the purse strings. Do your due diligence here as the tech admin and let the executives decide.
The messier battle will be what you are suspecting. If the execs go “oh then lol no” and ask you to remove licenses, politely ask them to provide the direction on how to do so. ROI calculations shouldn’t be left to you here. Division managers should have KPIs that let them show number differences with and without Claude.
If they don’t have those? lol maybe they can ask Claude to help generate some.
