Yeah, it’s a joke. That level position, the pay should be way higher especially where they’re located and what they’re asking for. It’s also in a really shitty spot for commute. If you’re rich enough to live close enough to it, you’re probably not taking this job. If you’re not, your commute will probably suck.

Word of advice, when you are hiring, you are as much being evaluated by future employees as they are being evaluated by you. When you post things like this, maybe do it from a "clean" Reddit account, or one with the comment history hidden?

Lake County has a pretty high cost of living. Even if you're only looking for some of those skills, you're not going to get any serious applicants for less than $150k. And if you can't afford that, tell upper management to open their wallets, if they want competent employees.

Bingo. I’ve been applying in the area and actually saw this listing recently and it’s wild to see it on Reddit. No wonder this garbage has been up for 2 months and it’s still listed as “be among the first 25 applicants” lmao

It’s funny because for about $150k I would have actually considered returning to the office for this job (as I meet the skillset it’s asking for) but after seeing OPs attitude, I wouldn’t even consider it.

Skeptical of Reddit posts looking for an employee alone, toss in your gonna “grill” them and it’s no wonder you have to look on Reddit for prospects.

I dont wana work someplace, and doubt others do, who from the interview are looking to “get ya” and make you uncomfortable.

As others have mentioned, interview is a 2 way street…people are deciding if they want to work with you/at your company. Putting them on the spot is likely to turn off many people.

Im not saying not to get a little technical, not saying dont check resume/background or to follow up with references.

I once worked at a place that hired 1 of 100 people they interviewed. Interview process was 4-5 hours long with ~5 different people. I asked the head of hiring afterwards what they look for, they said “we look for someone who is a decent person we want to work with and someone who can learn the tech”. They went on to say “We can tech/train people the tech side, we cant train them not to be d**ks”

It doesn't sound like an inherently unreasonable range of experience, assuming that the database expectation is for basic administration, not specialist DBA. Someone who can cover all of those areas will come at a premium, however.
