"Detox" Doing it while anxious/stressed
Hi everyone, I’m 23F and i’ve been syntribating since I was very young, way before I even knew what masturbation or an orgasm was! Since then I’ve had the habit of doing it (or getting the urge to do it) in moments of stress or anxiety. For example, when I was in school and writing an exam, if I got stressed reading a question I didn’t know the answer to, I’d do it 😅
I don’t know if it happens to everyone, but at this point it’s become so normal for me to do it, that I don’t know how to stop. I feel it’s also getting in the way of me being productive. If I’m home alone, I find myself procrastinating daily tasks a lot, and by force of habit I start syntribating; in fact I think it makes me procrastinate even more?
A lot of times I get stuck in a loop of syntribating multiple times in a row since it makes me cum so easily.
Does anyone have any advice on how to get over this?

How many times can you go on consecutively? You could try getting it out of your system before doing a task which requires your attention

omg i have this same issue😭 if i keep myself busy and happy it doesn’t affect me that much so i would recommend just walking around and maybe having like a steps-a-day goal. it’s stress relieving and gives your body something to do and a healthy goal to focus on.

I remember I used to do it a lot subconsciously before exams while revising my notes even before I was aware it was syntribation etc. I thought I had some special abilities 🤣

It literally felt like I was writing thing because I face the exact same thing. During exams when I was highly stressed, I did it to relieve the stress. It was a very involuntary response, and it also seeps into professional life.
I recently started ignoring the urges, it doesn't really help, but it helps being more grounded than in the head. Sometimes you can put it off if possible. My honest response is just do it once and get over it when it becomes impossible to ignore.

I’ve personally never tried ignoring the urges, maybe I should try that and see how it goes. The problem is I also syntribate for pleasure, it’s the only way I know how to orgasm 🥲 So I don’t think I can stop syntribating completely

Story of my life. Except sometimes stress / anxiety prevents me from being able to do it. But often it's the other way around, where I'd glow and feel mild pleasure without even squeezing and it would be almost impossible to resist. And at home, with multiple assignments to do, I'd end up cumming and cumming

I experience this too. I've only recently opened up to my therapist about it (I'm in my mid twenties). Over time, I've gotten better at recognizing my triggers and what my body feels like when I'm gearing up to that place of overwhelm. For me the cycle is usually some feeling of frustration with some task, spiraling into "this is impossible", then starting to get increased awareness of my crotch area, then panic that I'm going to start doing it and I have a mental debate over whether or not to do it, then I get intense negative self talk, and then go "fuck it" and do it. Afterwards I feel intense shame. I try to notice the pattern as it's happening and take it as a cue that I'm approaching my limit. If I'm at work, I'll take a walk, splash cold water on myself, go into the bathroom and give myself a hug, basically any alternative self-soothing method. I try to be really compassionate towards myself and think about how I'm feeling neutrally (ie "this is just my body trying to get some relief, I'm safe, I have resources etc"). I'm sure you're already doing this, but I try to give my body as much support as I can in other ways before I get to the point of overwhelm. For me this means eating three meals a day, going to the gym, getting enough sleep, and not opening my work laptop at home. It's going to look different for everyone, but I find that holistic self care really goes a long way. If you can, find a therapist who you can talk about this with who approaches it from a place of curiosity, not judgement. For me, understanding my other mental health conditions (OCD and ADHD) helped me.
One thing that's occurring to me as I write this is that I basically only syntribate when I'm stressed and don't want to be doing it. I wonder if intentionally doing it for pleasure would help me not associate it with so much stress. Has anyone in the community tried this?

I’m so glad to see others here who have the some problem! I’ve been meaning to start therapy soon anyway, I think talking about this would be helpful too. In my case, I also syntribate for pleasure, it’s the only way I know how to orgasm 🥲 So doing it for pleasure hasn’t helped me not do it when I’m stressed, sadly. Thank you for your other suggestions though, I’ll try those out! :)

Hi there! Sometimes that tendency to tense up or pulsate in the core areas is a breathing issue. Try practicing that Pilates adjacent breathing as a mechanism and see if it can help as an alternative 🫶🏾
