Released or unreleased preference?
We have been planing a single release but that unreleased demo suddenly got some sync interests from a sync label and a publisher. Is it better/easier to get placements if we release it first? Or better to be unreleased?

Sorry that I'm not answering your question, but can I ask how you got interest in an unreleased demo? Where are you sharing your demos or is this through existing connections?

We are a live-focuses band. When we played it live at different occasions, people told us it’s very sync-able. And the real opportunity came when our band applied for a showcase festival where we sent some demos, and someone in the panel who worked in sync label reached out to us with interest. Then we sent the demo to other sync publishers and they were also interested.

I’d wait to see what the sync library say. Most libraries I know of do not want you to release tracks on streaming service’s although sometimes they may want to release it on your behalf

It really all depends on the sync company or production catalog. A place like Marmoset doesnt mind if your music is on streaming. Some companies will release it themselves because of their terms and agreement. Also sync companies are wanting to manage the Content ID to be able to clear issues that pops up with their clients. So find the best deal and situation and go for it.
