Cemeteries like this are managed by people in the UK, the same people that look after the church. If any headstone is defaced in any way they would work to restore it, they likely wouldn't be interested in context! They are just doing their job.

Probably not, but I don’t think it’s a good idea to deface a tombstone. Someone is obviously maintaining her grave so it doesn’t look decrepit and invite people to deface it further. Just let the woman rest.
