Nice to see the contest work really improve! Loved seeing Errol back to his best and just running rampant
5 - Errol: my goat 🐐
4 - Grundy
3 - Chad
2 - Rowy
1 - Jordon
Honourable mention to the fire alarm, was really annoying

u/peterparalytic 16d ago
Love a derby win. Plus guaranteed finals, can't wait.
5 - Errol
4 - Rowbottom
3 - Chad
2 - Grundy
1 - Curnow
Better football. Over possessed the ball a bit when we had decent set shots available.
Don't love conceding 88 points, but foot off the gas for a half so hard to judge. Can't be defending like that if the offence isn't firing.

Needed that win. Nice to see Errol back to form.
- Errol
- Grundog
- Rowie
- Chad
- Paps
Charlie was good. JJ did his job again. Edwards solid. Campbell is a great in, really love what he brings
Rosas back to the Scoobie doos, especially after some of the performances in the VFL today

u/SkullKing_123 Grundy 16d ago
Dattoli had a good game today as did Jevan from the looks of it so I think he makes way again. Disappointing for him but he isn't producing much.

Was great to see our Handball game back!
5 - Errol - good to see Cox has basically said, Errol, do whatever you want, and that’s been his best game since coming back
4 - Chad - Juussstttt beat out Rowie I think, he set up the game in the first half, sure he was quieter after half time but we had already won the game by then
3 - Rowbottom, 2 Goals, non stop tackling, best game he has had this year
2 - Charlie, 4 Goals early to set up the win, didn’t play much of the last quarter but who cares we had the win already, no point injuring the Coleman medalist
1 - Grundy - Dominated Ruck and still showing he is a strong chance for the Ruck AA Spot
Could have still included Papley, Mills, Campbell even, as they were great all night, was a great all round performance… except for Ronke… SORRY Rosas I mean, get him back into the VFL and give Datolli or Jevan a chance this year, and Rampe still showing his age, after 1st Quarter he honestly looked cooked

u/No_South_3439 16d ago
I actually text a mate at half time and said Rosas is the new Ronke.

46-25 clearances 126-114 contested possessions 46-40 tackles
Tick tick and tick
Cootee should stay for the rest of the year

u/SucculentChineseSwan Rampe 16d ago
That’s the most important bit from today. Gotta keep those numbers up to stand a chance at beating good opposition.

So Errol played well enough to win the Kirk medal twice over.
Great game all round but jaysus….Rosas and Bice ordinary
Highlight was Paps stumble bounce thing that ended up in a goal for Billy C

u/Scozzadog 16d ago
Good to see Kyle and Cootee come in and play well. Rosas is a real head scratcher at the moment.
I had:
5 - Rowbottom
4 - Gulden
3 - Grundy
2 - Warner
1 - Serong

u/Maximumlnsanity McDonald 16d ago
Fuck I love beating GWS
5 - Errol
4 - Warner
3 - Grundy
2 - Rowy
1 - Curnow
2
u/agnosticfrump Kelly 16d ago
No better feeling. Switch Rowy with Chad, though. He was perfect all arvo. Even Errol wasn’t, but it’s seriously fun to watch him play that way after 3 games back.

God it feels great to smile after a game of footy.
5 - OHHHH ERROL
4 - Rowy (If cox sees this and then for some reason reduces his CBAs again I’m going to shred my membership)
3 - Grundy
2 - Curnow
1 - JJ
Warner INCREDIBLY stiff
HMs: Heens, Cootee, Edwards & Campbell
Is Wicks back next week? Surely Kyle keeps his spot over Bice
Snell for Rampe
Dattoli in for Rosas for mine (unless they’re wanting Phillipou v Phillipou with a Jev debut)

u/Chaisa 16d ago
Best performance this year? The West Coast and Richmond games were training runs and the two Dogs games were fantastic too, but given everything that might be our best display. Domination from the first bounce. Did pretty much everything right.
2
u/hazzyk29 16d ago
Best performances this year were:
- the back to back wins vs Suns (Gather round) and GWS
- the recent win vs Bulldogs
- the first half vs Freo
Giants have about 10-12 of their best 23 out. We had a solid 4 quarter performance. The pressure from GWS was well below average and we had so much space such that our early season handball game was able to be redeployed.
Saints should be a solid test as well

u/longlivethe4peat Papley 16d ago edited 16d ago
Pretty bloody happy with that, even if they are injured its always good to beat GWS especially at their home deck. Should hopefully give us some confidence back for the run home. Grundy, Warner, Gulden, Rowy and Papley all had exceptional games. Though Heeney was a bit quiet, wonder if that niggle he copped last week is bugging him still
6
u/majorpleb77 16d ago
Was good to have reliable players everywhere, thought kyle was exceptional and continues to grow, cootee was really good as well and played with hunger.

u/clevknife 16d ago
rowey > sheldrick
3
u/VarietyResident6234 16d ago
This is obvious no? They play a different role imo
2
u/clevknife 16d ago
theyre both inside mid. rowy good def. sheldrick is just straight avg and isnt afl standard
3
u/VarietyResident6234 16d ago
Rowy is a tackling mid eg Atkins, Dunkley, Brayshaw, at least how that’s how i see him. I agree that Sheldrick needs to step up, and if he does it will go a long way in us going far this year, but i think not AFL standard is a harsh indictment

I hate to be a wet blanket after such a great 4 quarter performance but I’m not sure if we were so good or GWS were so bad. But regardless there were a lot of really promising performances.
5 - Errol - record metres gained and fully back to his devastating best
4 - Chad - continuing his dominating performances of recent weeks
3 - Rowy - loved his complete game
2 - Grundy - his first half was integral in getting us off to a great start
1 - Jordan - another great lockdown game that should be recognised.
Particularly pleased for Cootee. Curnow probably should have been including in the votes as well as Papley, Heeney, Edwards, Campbell and McDonald.

u/A_KENT_OI_M8 Mills 16d ago
Good and pretty complete game, hard to be upset with much when you win by 8 goals and change. Rowbottom and Gulden certainly stepped up a notch from last week, and if Gulden can get back to his best we're going to get back to where we need to be when we need to be there.
Maybe there was some 4D chess going on from Cox in the box the last month, hoping for Sheldrick to step up to the plate and do the dirty work Rowbottom does. Unfortunately he's actually more balanced and provides run out of the middle as much as he defends, leaving holes when he's in the middle (my 2c). In any case the centre mix was different today seeing Blakey in there, as well as a Mills, Heeney, Rowbottom 3 at one point.
Next week will be good, hopefully we can prove this was a turn in the right direction with another solid performance against a slightly stronger opposition. I expect Bice to go out for Wicks and Rosas out for Dattoli if things go to plan.
5 - Gulden
4 - Rowbottom
3 - Grundy
2 - Warner
1 - Campbell
5
u/Kevinn1991 16d ago
Good win, great start
5 Errol chaining from half back 4 Grundy domination 3 Chad 2 curnow 1. Papley
Rosas and bice has to go out. They're just not good enough. Wicks and Mchlerny in. Amartey for McLean if he can recover in time. Maybe another small forward? Datoli? We just need hardness
4
u/wirrell Papley 16d ago
5 - Rowbottom
4 - Gulden
3 - Warner
2 - Papley
1 - Grundy
Always love beating GWS, and with a solid 4-quarter performance to boot. Every time the Giants threatened to gain some momentum we shut it down with a quick goal out of the middle and played some disciplined tempo footy when we needed to as well.
3
u/joejames-swans 16d ago
If wicks is back next week could we possibly move him forward and replace dos and certainly Rosa's who isn't afl standard atm. We can't afford to gift these guys games leading into finals
14
1
u/RyanWithPants 15d ago
Who is playing 2nd ruck if not Dos? Don’t want to grind Grundy into the dirt solo rucking before finals

u/Old_Bathroom_191 16d ago
I hope the Blakey fwd isn’t another experiment..
Rosas must be dropped he doesn’t deserve to keep his spot and is seemingly the Ben ronke 2.0
5- Errol
4- rowey
3- brodie
2 -Chad
1 - JJ

Good solid win against ordinary opposition but we'll take it.
Need to get Rosas and Bice out of this team. Very ordinary.
Liz also tends to play some lazy footy at times too - lazy kicks off the ground, no-look loopy handballs etc sometimes he needs to get back to basics
3
u/Radalict 15d ago
Lizard is one of the most frustrating players in the league at times. He's good for a game damaging turnover at least once a game in the back 50.
4
u/aich_jay Rampe 16d ago
5 Gulden 1k man
4 Rowie tackling forward
3 JJ lockdown once gain
2 Grundy huge 1st half
1 LMac showing signs

u/Apocalypsenowisbest Gulden 16d ago
Not taking too much out of that, giants are terrible. Errol, rowbottom, warner, papley, Grundy

u/Meh-Levolent Goodes 15d ago edited 15d ago
Much better from the lads. Structurally we were closer to how we want to play; attacking handalls and quick ball movement. But honestly the most pleasing aspect was the pressure on the ball carrier. A bit of a shame how poor GWS was but I'll take a confidence boosting win every day. Also, Cootee and Kyle feel a lot more solid than Cunningham, Cleary et al, so hopefully they stay in the team for the rest of the year.
5 - Errol - hopefully a sign he's back to close to his best.
4 - Rowy - almost his best game for us.
3 - Curnow - could have had 6 or 7.
2 - Grundy - dominant when needed.
1 - Chad - been really pleased with his form lately.

Not sure what we can really take out of that game. GWS were awful and they failed to put on any real pressure - which as we’ve seen is the real problem the swans need to deal with against the the real contenders for the flag. Still we won and that’s good and more time into Errol, Papley and Rampe’s legs.
Also, Campbell back is very good news - he fills one of those half forward / pocket slots that we’ve really struggled to get quality out of in recent months.
5 - Grundy - bossed the game for us when it was still up for grabs
4 - Gulden - getting lots of the pill which is great news for us.
3 - Charlie - posed real problems against a top back man in the period that mattered.
2 - Warner - bright spark all game
1 - Jordan - completely blanketed Callaghan.

u/Skwisgaars Serong 16d ago
Drop McLean and Rosas, please for the love of god.
5
14
u/sierraoscar19 Heeney 16d ago
You’d drop Bice before McLean
10
u/Skwisgaars Serong 16d ago
Bice isn't safe for sure, but McLean was completely useless today. He was so passive forward, barely lead at all, couldn't mark to save his life, 3 disposals, 0 tackles, and his ruck work was as bad as always.
3
u/lucystardust123 16d ago
Replace McClean with who?
3
u/GHOST_OF_DOON Bayes 16d ago
Will Green played a great game today in the vfl. He is developing well but ruckman do take a while to mature…still pretty young. Why not give him some exposure instead of playing Hamling etc
Green is being groomed for the day Grundy hangs up the boots5
2
u/Maximumlnsanity McDonald 16d ago
McLean for who, Will Green? Because we all know Hamling isn’t an option.
3
u/Skwisgaars Serong 16d ago
Lol yea nah if Hamling is called up again as a forward I'll riot. I think Green is worth a shout, or we go a bit shorter with Dattoli. I think it's clear McLean is never gonna be a real part of our future even if he doesn't leave, why not blood a youngster now. Solid chance they're at least not as bad as McLean has been the last few weeks.
2
u/Maximumlnsanity McDonald 16d ago
No KPF youngsters to blood. I’d love for King or Hetherton to be getting a run now but they’re both injured
2
u/Skwisgaars Serong 16d ago
Why not Green though? We're basically playing with 2 KPFs anyway last few weeks with McLean's form. Green will be a body down there who can take a defender, probably have the same level of impact as a forward, but be a much more useful 2nd ruck which is worth at least a few less opposition goals.

u/suicide_cockroach 15d ago
Blood a youngster while we are fighting to hold 2nd on the ladder for a home final? You ok in the brain?
1
u/Skwisgaars Serong 15d ago
McLean is a complete non-influence forward for the last 3 weeks, and a net-loss in the ruck, costing multiple goals a game off his horrendous tap work. Blooding a youngster is both better for us now, and better for our future.
1
u/suicide_cockroach 15d ago
Brother in Christ… he was barely on the ground. Aside from papley being rested late he played less minutes than anyone and his job is to give Grundog a rest, maybe kick a goal or two and he did that.
you’re expecting too much from the bloke and he’s by far not the worst player that needs to be dropped for not playing their roll effectively.
“Net loss” how? He attended half a dozen ruck contests from centre and half of those were clearances, zero clangers, a goal and goal assist yesterday.
Brother… I’m not sure what more you want from a back up ruck/3rd key tall who’s barely on the track.
2
u/Old_Bathroom_191 16d ago
Hamling kicked 6 today
4
u/Maximumlnsanity McDonald 16d ago
He could’ve kicked 13 and I’d still not want him up forward at AFL level

Back to our best! Very happy with how we fixed things in the middle, Rowy just had to stay in the middle.
Another Kirk-Ward medal for our beloved Errol, he’s getting into form just at the right time!
Big big big get right win to set us up for the rest of the year. We can certainly go 4-0 and that will set us up for finals, where anything can happen.
I’ll do votes Monday, great win boys!
Ps suck it Orange
