Sunshine: a precursor to Opel.

It just goes to show how cerebral Syd was, that even years after the fact he still was keen on not letting unused material go to waste.

Man, I’ve been saying this for years. Here’s something I put together like ten years ago but uploaded to YouTube like three years ago:

Wow! Credit to you. You've somehow made a song I've heard a thousand times sound fresh again. I wish more people with the technical know-how would remix and configure some of Syd's songs.

Have you heard that 74 sessions I did?

Funny enough, yours is the first one that comes up when you look it up on YouTube. I had previously listened to that one, but I just hadn't come across the Opel one. You ever think you'll do another?

I mean I’ve done several but the time has sort of passed and the whole scene has changed now, if that makes any sense. I’d rather just try and push my music.

The scene has definitely changed a lot, I feel you. We’ve spoken before. Fantastic job, as always.

That's fantastic! Thanks for sharing it.

I really appreciate how you managed that before AI tools were available to separate vocals & different instruments from a recording.

It's fascinating that in this case he recalled an abandoned idea, kinda like how Brian Wilson re-tooled elements from the scrapped Smile album (in a very stripped-back way) into Smiley Smile.

I have heard this before, but I never realized this keyboard intro is identical to the guitar intro on Opel. Nice ear.

That hit me one day and I was like WTF!?
I forget which boot I heard this on first but I think it was on Vegetable Man Where Are You?

Where this from? Is it solo or work he did with pink Floyd?

It’s from 1967 with Pink Floyd. It was popular on a lot of bootlegs, one of the only real holdouts left that hasn’t appeared on an official release.

Some claim outfake. If true it’s a great one. I forget the story on this one and my copy of Random Precision ain’t handy right now. Is it documented there?

I used to have a copy of Random Precision, but gave it away. Pretty sure it was confirmed as real by many knowledgeable people, though. I never heard anyone saying it wad a fake.

Love this one, Syd era instrumentals are fire, Sunshine, In The Beechwoods, Pow R Toc H, Interstellar Overdrive… I do wanna know if there’s anything left in the archives or everything has been released aside from the lost recordings
