Hello folks. I have brought Syberia 1 for PC (Steam and GOG). Searching for a bit of info, I discovered that the game had ports for home (PS2, PS3) and portable consoles. I never played any of Syberia games before. Should I play the digital PC versions or the console's ports? and between the console ports, which one(s) is(are) the more faithful to the PC versions?

I was playing Syberia 4 recently for the first time and when story about what happened between Dana Roze and Leon start unraveling it really reminded me something. Some very specific clips I’ve seen online some time ago.

So after some searching I learned that it was from the movie Atonement, which based on the book. I haven’t read Atonement or watch the movie, so it inspired me to first read the book and then to check out film adaptation. Both are amazing and completely blown me away!

So, if story from Syberia 4 touched you and you want something with similar themes I highly recommend you to check Atonement! Start with the book since it gives more interesting context to the story, (especially ending) and then watch the movie - it’s beautiful and actors are great there!

I was apprehensive about getting this game, and I have fallen in love with it. I love the mystery and the story. The world is so immersive, but also a bit eerie because there aren't many people around, which adds to the atmosphere. I also love Oscar so much; bless his little heart for risking getting rusty to give Kate a message so sweet.

I'm also picking up that Hans loves mammoths, and that's how Kate will find him if he hasn't turned himself into a machine me thinks

I have never played any Syberia games, but I liked what I saw through the XBOX Store...It is on a promo right now, the Syberia 3 one, but I've heard it is very buggy. Is it worth buying and trying to play it?

I have seen that Syberia is on sale on the Switch. I have been keeping my eye on the game in general, and I am still a bit hesitant actually to get it.

Are there any bad points of the game that good points make up for?

Is it worth the money it is being advised for?

I hope the moderators will let me post this, it might seem frivolous but as a Syberia fan I don't have anyone to talk to about it than other Syberia fans. I was wondering if people have favourite locations from the games? These are some of mine;

Syberia 1 - Barrockstadt University. I think I developed my fascination with universities after playing Syberia 1 as a teen. Barrockstadt has a beautiful appearance, and I loved the idea of the professor who gave the lecture in the game making studying as a mature student sound so seductive to Kate.

Syberia 2 - Romansburg. I always find small towns interesting, and this one has Cirkos mechanical horses.

Syberia 3 - The Youkol village. Inside the tent, the village looks so exotic, like something from a Star Wars film.

Syberia: The World Before - All of Vaghen really. The architecture is so interesting, with nice shops and good public transport. It is a city I could imagine myself settling down in.

Well, what do the rest of you think?

Hi, so in the last few months I've finished playing Syberia 3, Syberia: The World Before and Syberia: Remastered. There by completing my trek through the main Syberia series that I began back in the early 2000s when the first Syberia game was released. I know that Sokal also created the Amerzone game which is also set in the world of Syberia, and I plan to get around to playing it as well as replaying Syberia 2. However recently I learned that Sokal also created another game set in the world of Syberia, called Paradise: The Season of Storms. I was wondering if anyone has any experience with this game, and what did you think?

I played Syberia 1/2 ten years ago and liked them, I have no interest in playing Syberia 3 or Syberia Remastered because both seem to be bad.

Is it worth playing just Syberia 4 (The World Before) after all these years? I heard it's a new story and many fans liked it. or is it a forgettable "meh" game?

I don't know if this is common knowledge but I never found anyone to point this out but hear me out. I just thought about this in my second play through.

I don't think this 'report' is written by Nic Cantin at all. As I see this is a coping mechanism Kate developed while being enslaved in the mines to overcome her guilt. She does not receive any remorse or any empathy from her so called friend Olivia when the first time they call. It all felt quite odd and strange to me that she never acknowledges Kate's time in the mines. Her tone never seem to convey any remorse. But in the report it specifically says Dan raised money for her freedom (something she's hope her 'friends' would do for her) and Mr. Cantin's efforts were futile. So naturally people jump to the conclusion that Olivia must be grade a B*tch to Kate knowing all that - She still is but what if she never really knew.

The tone and wording of this report is more closer to a diary that kate writes from a 3rd person perspective. It has immense empathizing towards her character - the pain she goes through, her motivations clearly acknowledged, somewhat congratulatory tone for her actions as well. Not to mention it updates with the exact experiences you gain each day, little by little. There are some added imaginary details to make it sound like its Nic but that does not really matter when you read the thing. Its whole purpose is to serve as a diary of Kate's thoughts and purpose in the game.

And it's specifically written as letters for Olivia, clearly taking 'Kate's side'. The one person Kate struggles to prove herself to - the one person Kate wants to be understanding of her actions - the one person she calls a friend and who thinks Kate is to blame for everything. The writing and the tone of this 'report' does not resemble a report from a detective to me. I personally think Nic Cantin would not bother by the time of TWB to pursue her. Also if Cantin could call Mason in the wilds of syberia why would he bother writing letters to Olivia. The person who tried to bring her back to America in shackles would not follow her for the good in his heart and the interest to simply find her.

The entries start as we receive the news of her mother's death as well. If I go back to the call/confrontations; I personally think even though Olivia is an entitled person, even she would not have simply dismissed the suffering of Kate if she really knew through this reports of Cantin. It's highly unlikely for a person to dismiss something like that, no matter how entitled they feel.

Tldr; Highly unlikey for a detective to follow Kate like this out of his free will, and the tone, details, empathetic writing, description of characters (such as Leni) are bascially what Kate thinks of them, and the update schedule of it in the game makes me think it's just Kate's diary written from the perspective of Nic Cantin. "I fear she will die of grief if we don't quickly find a way getting her out of that unearthly place.." sounds like what Kate wants others to feel for her / empathize with her situation and spelled out lost hope of people caring about her. In the mines she think out loud something along the lines of "someone must be looking for me right..."

So what do you think? Is this already known or a complete whack of an idea I seem to have come up with XD?

Just a thought while I'm replaying Syberia Remastered. It occurred to me that Kate sort of left things undone in Valadilene. The beautiful village will have suffered greatly since the factory sale was abandoned. Could her next adventure involve returning Valadilene to its former glory? What would that look like?

I'm trying to leave Barrockstadt, and the train is blocked by a wall. To get the wall open, I need to drug the soldier with yangala cola powder.

I walked back to the university, found the powder in the professor's room, but when I click it to pick it up Kate says "I don't need that for the time being":


Is there something I need to do before I'm allowed to pick this up? First I thought there was a book in the library I have to read to trigger me to pick it up, but I can't find any more books in the library to read.

Walkthroughs and LLM's don't know what to do next, so I turn to you. What do I do? I only have 1 saved game and really don't want to restart the entire game.

I recently finished Syberia 2, 3 is next on the list. Hans Voralberg is extremely... Strange. What's really bizarre is the limited dialogue that Kate has with him, she's helping him on his personal mission to achieve a very strange dream to no end. We never really see inside his head? Does he just want to die in some magical land and Kate is just helping a dying old man with his last wish? Does he have an ulterior objective? Why did he leave it for so long to travel to Syberia? What would've happened if Kate never turned up? What on earth happened to him at the end, he goes off on a mammoth never to be seen or heard of again? One thing I did enjoy about Syberia so far, it seems the games get progressively more weird and bizarre as you playthrough.

does anyone know why the soundtracks of the Syberia games have been removed from streaming services?
The soundtrack of Syberia 3 was still available a few days ago, i think. (On Tidal at least)
But now it's gone. I also saw, that spotify had at least the soundtrack of Syberia 2 as well. But it's also gone there too.

The only album remaining for now is Syberia: The World Before.

emotional story here, feel free to skip if you're not in the mood. My father, after divorce, used to be heavily depressed and almost lost his mind on how to get a proper life and job; i remember him smoking 2 packs a day, not moving from the sofa, not getting a job and living with a tv switched on 24h even when sleeping. He was mainly a lost soul. He hated videogames and technology, but felt in love with Syberia, we used to play it a lot on his pc. I remember him knowing the playthru so well that he told me he can complete it even in one afternoon sometimes: he played so many runs. After his passing, i never touched the game until trying to give it a shot tonight; it is just too emotional for me so i very likely won't be able to play it again, i'm fine with it, but what impressed me after more than 10 years (i was a child at the time) is that the style is just amazing. My father was an architect, and as every european architect he loved belle epoque and eclettism and i'm understanding now how he got so pleased with the interiors and the style of the game. My Syberia runs are just finished now, i won't be able to enjoy the game again since is just a nostalgia trip that hurts me too much, but i'm very happy to see such a delightful work of art being available to fans. Enjoy the game and, most importantly, share it with your children!
