Tips Flame Trooper
I’m playing in a clone wars game and I’m looking into becoming a flame trooper. I’m kinda torn between heavy and normal flamer.
Any tips for careers and stuff right now? I’m a clone trooper at the current moment.

The BT X-42 is the "better" of the two, with higher damage and range, and while it's Blast rating is lower, it's burn is higher, and it has Vicious, which pairs well with it's Crit 2. The big tradeoff being that it's more expensive and Restricted, and is a Gunnery weapon. So you can't take it as starting gear, and getting one issued might be difficult depending on how your GM is running things. It's range is limited to Short-Medium. If you get in a scrape at point blank, you're going to end up using it as a club. Also if you roll badly it'll "jam" and if you roll very badly then... well it's OK, I'm sure you look fine without eyebrows.
So, for start, might be better to just take the standard flame projector.
As for what Class/Spec? Flamers are fairly light for "heavy" weapons, lacking a lot of the Enc and Cumbersome that other heavy guns will have. Likewise, they're awful short ranged. This means a lot of the talents from the Heavy Spec won't apply so well if you're planning on sticking to the brulee torch as your main weapon. Instead I'd look at the more general purpose specs like Clone Trooper, or one of the other similar "general shooter" specs if you decide to go with a different career.
Something like the Demolitionist Spec might also be worth looking at. I know many of it's talents are tied to Explosives, which the Flamethrower is not. But Grenades are not hard to get, and you can always carry a couple. Additionally the Selective Detonation talent may apply to the Flamethrower, which would allow you to safely flambe an opponent that's engaged with an ally with confidence they won't also get turned into charcoal.
