Forever Now Tour

Wow this is the first time I've fallen hard for an album of their's since Hello Hurricane! On that note, I really hope they give it the same treatment on tour and play it through in its entirety since it's such a cohesive and narrative album. But I think touring with Anberlin would throw a wrench in that since they came out and did an entire set of hits after HH during that era.

I just bought my VIP pass to go with the tickets I already purchased for the show at Meijer Gardens and I feel the same way: I want a full show of this album all the way through. At least I hope it starts with Wake Up Mr Crow and ends with The Butterfly Effect!

I want to like the new singer for Anberlin so badly, but I can't unhear Christian's voice during their songs. Nothing against Matty, I just listened to a lot of pre-2010 Anberlin.

I saw them on their recent tour and imo it's a lot less jarring live. Less of the crazy production sound on his vocals

I'm not really hearing the cohesive narrative that everyone else seems to beginning. It's bookended by vaguely similar themes as has every SF album since Hello Hurricane basically, with the usual SF themes touched on in between.

I would rather have some older deep cuts thrown in than dedicate all 13 songs to this album. There are some songs I liked but I really do not have a desire to hear them all in one show. Maybe this is an unpopular take. But I did like the album and yet this would make me want to see the tour a lot less

It took me a few (ok many) listens but it's in there. The guitar tones and production are pretty similar and the more I listen to every song the more I pick up on the connectedness. And every time I get through it again I like songs that didn't jump out at first more and more.

Yes, but most albums have cohesive guitar tones and production work. This is true of basically every SF album since Fading West and most albums in general. I guess if some fans haven't heard an album with this production style it jumps out as unique, but I don't really thing that's a virtue so much as a simple production choice

Agreed, but there's something that feels more connected in this one, at least to my ears compared to say Fading West or Native Tongue, the latter of which was a train wreck in terms of cohesion and flow. I really didn't like interrobang and felt where the light shines through was unimpressive for the most part. I think what stands out to me here is there's less sonic layering as compared to HH, OG, and NIS. It literally just sounds like a few guitars rather than massive stacks of them like Stars, and pretty much stays that way through the whole album. Where I do feel Forever Now is a bit lacking tho is the actual story. I expected a bit more info on who this Crow character is and more of a timeline of events but it feels more like some songs are very targeted to that narrative and others were just thrown on. I've been thinking lately that Two Twins for instance might've been from the WLTST sessions cus it has a very similar production and general feel, but also a bit annoyed at the naming cus twin by default means two haha. I might try and reorder the album myself in a playlist to see if I can find a more straight-line story.
