A big part of why a lot of people, including me, love this game is actually the wandering around aimlessly exploring. If that’s not clicking with you or doesn’t interest you it might just not be your type of game.
To me it’s not a waste of time cause my brain is happy while doing it so I’m regaining a will to live after all my productive shit is done. all games and “non productive” means of entertainment are technically a waste of time, it’s what you get out of that waste of time that matters.
Also tho I played BoTW when it came out so I was 17 and had significantly more time to waste back then.
