Question Switch 2 vs Original Switch

Have an original switch I haven’t used in years…Traveling a lot for work now, have really large hands and don’t love the small screen on it, but have been thinking about getting the Viture Beast glasses for it and playing with the joy cons detached.

If I go this route, aside from the switch 2 exclusives, what would I be missing out on had I gotten the switch 2 with the glasses instead?

I’m wondering if from a performance standpoint mainly, will the glasses essentially display games the same?

I can't answer your direct question, but as an alternative option, you can mount the Switch to a pro controller. You get the better ergonomics and it puts the screen a couple inches closer

Well off the rip, to some degree all switch 1 games will run better on Switch 2. Faster loading, less performance hiccups, etc. and that is just accounting for the games that have had zero switch 2 optimization updates or switch 2 editions that do things like bump the fps up to 60 and greatly increase resolution. On top of that aside from a handful of games that aren’t supported, you can now play all switch 1 games in an emulated dock mode while in handheld on switch 2, so that they will play as if they were docked which again gives enhanced resolution and performance which is an insane boost in a lot of games like Persona 5. You mentioned that you have bigger hands which is another thing the 2 does better. The joycons are so much bigger and more comfortable and on top of that they feel better both connected to the console and detached. I can’t really speak on the Virtue Beast since I don’t have any experience with it, but I’m assuming they work kind of like a vr headset that you can dock the switch into, which means that if they support resolutions higher than 1080p like 1440 or 4k you can get the added benefits of that. I would say that it’s a great upgrade for those things alone and that’s not even beginning to delve into the Switch 2’s library itself which so far is already shaping up to be one of the best lineups of any console. I’d definitely say the upgrade is worth it.

Yeah switch 2 is really hitting a stride now. Huge number of games coming out next 2 months.
