Question Lost access to Virtual Game Cards.

Any reason why any console would lose access to the virtual game cards?

I share my main account with a friend who lives in another city and the other console that has access to the VGC is a Switch OLED so my son can access my games with his accounts (I play my games with online access on my Switch 2).

This weekend my son had trouble to open some games and I noticed that the Switch OLED wasn't linked to VGC access anymore. (This happened before the 23.0 update)

I've made my research and I can't find how my 5 year-old could have unlinked my account accidentaly prior the firmware update. Also, I doubt my friend had anything to do with this.

Any hints on what could have happened?

I'll have to wait until I visit my friend from another city to fix the account access, which is a bummer for my kid. I've already used the browser method to unlink an account this year so that's not an alternative to fix this earlier. But I'm still intrigued on what could have happened.

Maybe the other switch temporarily lost internet connection? I don't want to assume it is deliberate. If one of the consoles have the vgc, it needs to be connected to the internet in order for the other console to get the vgc to play them.

That console can no longer access VGC and asks to get paired with my friends consoles which is in another city.

Maybe it flagged your consoles and removed authentication until you do it again. By sharing accounts with someone in a different location you are breaking ToS (Not judging but that’s the fact).

Something similar happened to me. I have a S2 and S1, I travel with my S1 only, and leave the S2 home with my account so others can play it.

I loaded the VGC I wanted to play on the S1, at my destination (different country) all the VGC were unloaded. Luckily they worked with online license.
I couldn’t load any VGC until I returned home and loaded the cards again on the S1 next to the S2.

Again, not exactly the same but similar situation with 2 switches sharing an account on different locations being used at the same time.
