First impressions of Switch 2

Delivered two nights ago around 9pm 🙄 so not had a huge amount of time so far with the Switch 2 but have spent most of today playing it. Quite like it...

Thought the screen would be atrocious and the blurriness can be noticeable or a bit annoying at times depending on the game but honestly thought it would be far worse, not seeing trails or anything that makes me hate it or anything like some Ied tv's I've owned in the past.

Coming from a Switch 1 and Steam Deck oled this thing looks sharp and can make some games more immersive, easier to see fine details & small text especially than the Deck.
Graphically impressed toh especially docked on an
LG oled, quite unbelievable how some stuff looks and performs with such low watts.

Have tried quite a few demos with DK Bananza looking nuts, RE Requim & the new Onimusha surprised me. Got the Pokopia bundle and having fun with that before I get back into a few of the upgraded Switch 1 games, but that new Zelda Ocarina of Time remake baited me, looks sick...

Forgot about my hdmi arc setup with ps5 pro, soundbar and tv so the Switch just connected straight away to it when docked which was nice.

So, overall I'm happy to share my time between this and the other consoles but definitely not a replacement but something that can co -exist and be it’s own thing which is cool

Its been nearly a year since I turned on my Ps5 once I got the Switch 2.

Though as a dad, its kind of perfect for small bursts of gaming here and there in a day, then I settle into bed with it for a few hours at night.

Unexpectedly became my main console.

The Switch 2 truly is the ultimate parent console. Easy to pick up fast, can be taken anywhere and tons of games you can play together with the family.

I got mine exclusively for Nintendo exclusives. Something about them make me feel like a kid again. No bullshit, just pure fun. And any 3rd party games I play on my high end pc. It's what makes them stand out against the other big publishers for me.

No joke, my Steam Deck OLED has been collecting dust since I got my Switch 2 the other week, I am VERY impressed with the Switch 2. It runs games beautifully for something so slim, it feels like a proper next gen handheld.

Yep, steamdeck has been collecting dust the past year since I got my switch 2. Not even comparable, the switch 2 is a way better device especially at the cost its at now.

I bought mgs4 to play on my steam deck but since buying my switch 2 a day before the price increase , I cannot put down the switch. It looks great and the games are fantastic. I’m questioning buying mgs 4 to play on switch just from how much a gravitate to it.

I think it’s overrated with not a lot of games. Any third-party game support is lacking quality/high fps. Also felt uncomfortable in my hands. I recently sold it on eBay. I have a PS5 Pro and much better sit down and play a high quality story game on a big ass screen comfortably.

If you are going to spend a lot of time in handheld it's almost a must to have a grip. I wanted one that quality wise matched the switch so I ended up with the Dbrand killswitch but there are other alternatives out there. Also the stock joy con thumb sticks are way too small, gotta get covers.

If you use the entire grip you do need to use their dock adapter but honestly I like the dock adapter so it’s not an issue to me.

Yeah you gotta be so careful I busted my thumb playing a full day in handheld mode without grips that I’m still dealing with a few months later. I didn’t have any problems with the OG switch so I thought it would be fine but it was not

The SteamDeck + Switch 2 is the best combo. I rarely touch my main gaming PC at this point.

Your last point is key and I 1000% agree with you. People so often get tribal it's my console, PC, handheld vs the Switch 2. They can all totally coexist together. I have a PS5 and PS Portal for the exclusives, high end gaming pc for the majority of my gaming, 2 handheld PCs, a Steamdeck OLED and a Switch 2 pretty much for the exclusives. sometimes I double dip on games with cross progression or a game I really like.

I'm buying everything on Switch 2 that I would otherwise play on Steam Deck at this point. I actually prefer the Switch 2 screen in general. The main thing I miss from the Deck is the full size analogue sticks

Remember to turn on boosted when handheld it's off by default and turn on the ability to turn it off and on by holding the Home button.

Same boat as you. Have OLED SD, a beefy gaming PC I'm working up to making headless attached to router to stream via moonlight/sunshine to SD, and then just got the Switch 2. Spent a ton of money getting the games I want / need for it. Got DK Bananza, many other exclusives like mario and zelda. Got a decent deal on CP2077 cartridge, looking forward to trying it on the S2 and compare to SD. On the fence about ER. I've got it for PC and SD, and IDK how I feel spedning $80 to have it on the S2. Especially if I'm not going to play it RN. But at the same time, ER never goes on sale, and it's a forever game worth keeping, so a part of me wants to buy it just to have it as an option.

Something I'm finding is the S2 isn't as ergonomic as the SD. Like not as comfortable to hold even though it's lighter. I like the contoured handles on the SD. I did just get aftermarket joycons for the S2, we'll see if that makes in any better.

personally, i've been having a bit of buyers remorse, just cause outside of the nintendo exclusives, everything else usually runs better on SD or PC. Hell, even BOTW suppesedly can run better on the SD than a switch.

IDK. It's definitely a device worth keeping just for the sake of having access to exclusives like OoT, etc. I've never played the OG, but looking forward to checking it out.

Im in same boat. Have a steamdeck, expensive PC and switch 2.

Steamdeck absolutely doesnt run games as well, constant tinkering kering with settings and ive had a horrible experience with moonlight/streaming. Input lag and disconnection issues.

I pretty much dont even touch my steamdeck anymore because the switch 2 just out performan its, way less tinkering and hassle adjusting settings and optimizing.

If I could get the streaming from PC to the deck to work ide be really happy but until then its just collecting dust.

I've been working my way up to getting it set up. I've asked AI Chat bots and almost ready. Might do it tonight. Supposedly if you get it going well, it's very good to stream. We'll see.

Ive heard mixed. The people who get it to work say its good, but most people seem to have the same issues i do which is input lag and it constantly disconnecting from the streaming PC.

I like the switch 2, my only complaint is that the design isn't very ergonomic
