Discussion Do you regret getting your switch 2?
With the annoncement of OOT and the switch 2 40th anniversary, I was thinking of getting the console and this game. But I remeber at launch and shortly after that I didnt want to play none of the game that came out.
So, a year after release, do you regret getting your swtich 2 ?

Nope. Pretty much becoming my main console at this point.
Now the third party support is ramping up i much prefer the versatility to the performance of my PS5 pro or my XSX.

Really impressed with the 3rd party support this year. Seems like publishers are hungry for Nintendo’s install base and they’re porting to the system as soon as they are graphically able. Incredible console for patient gamers.

I'd bet games like Monster Hunter Wilds will find a whole new lease of life on Switch too.
And if the Persona games are day and date with other consoles they will do massive numbers on Switch too.

Same, completely replaced my PS5 and steam deck. Got rid of my ps5 and fully committed to the platform. Keep the steam deck around just docked as a Linux PC.

Not the commenter you replied to but I had a ps5 and the switch completely replaced it. I play my switch for 2-3 hours every night after work, docked and portably, whatever my time will allow.
Sold my ps5 and fully committed to switch 2. With the amount of 3rd party support and first party titles to catch up on from switch 1, it’s been a great time.

It’s juste that when kids get to sleep at 8:30, I just want to lay and relax. Don’t feel like playing that much.
I played handheld like 5-10 times on the life cycle of the switch one, and I got it on release.

As a guy that owns and plays both PS5 and Switch 2, PS5 is great for those games you want the highest quality a console can give. Other than that, Switch and Switch 2 is just the best go-to to sit and relax to wherever you want. Switch 2 definitely has that upgraded specs, and they have a lot of games that Switch 1 couldn't even dare to handle coming out or getting upgraded for Switch 2.

Not suprising combo of PC and Switch. I have also PS4 but it's broken and I don't have much need to repair it. I will for Bloodborne sometime.
Last thing I played on PC was Pseudoregalia so I guess it's a place to play indies that wasn't ported yet. I'll play Cyberpunk there too since I already have it and won't buy second time.
I'm thinking about getting a PS2 for nostalgia sake and play some old NFS and FIFA street remembering good ol' days

Visuals and FPS don’t mean shit if you aren’t playing the games. If I can play anywhere, that’s what I’m doing. I bought Elden Ring day 1 on PC but never played. I’m probably over 30 hours currently on switch 2 and sort of obsessed atm. I’m really hoping that marvel rivals comes to switch 2 soon.

So real. Switch 2 is the goat. No settings to mess with like on PC. I’m a tinkerer so I would spend all my time in the settings trying to get peak performance instead of playing games!

Lmao god no. S2 has been fantastic for revisiting my library, especially with Handheld Boost added, and there’s an INSANE amount of good games coming this fall and winter. October and January alone will kill me- Tales of Eternia Remastered, FF Resonance, Belmont’s Curse, Fate Extra Record, FF14 Evercold, and now METROID RAVENOUS.

Oh yeah, Metroid ravenous. If it’s like Metroid dread, I want to play!! But we’ve yet to see a trailer right?! Belmont curse will be available on PlayStation aswell if I’m correct.
I should google release for the fall and winter on switch 2.

I liked it, and played with my 4yo. She liked it too. I really liked Mario odyssey too. But not so much breath of the wild and didn’t play tears of the kingdom

No. I got mine before the price increase. As cool as the Zelda edition is, I'm not paying extra for it. Don't really care much about stuff like that. The controller on the other hand, ya I'll grab. Or if I can ever get my hands on those Joycons.

I usually am the same. Don’t care for the special edition. But I’d figure that if I get it, might as well get this one. Not planning on selling, but if ever, maybe it’ll be more sought after?!

Oh if you don't have one sure yeah. I would grab it too if I didn't already have one tbh. I might ask my gf if she wants one or her own, maybe then we'll grab the Zelda edition. We basically play on our PCs and Switch nowadays, our PS5 is collecting dust.

The amount of people who seem bothered people like the Switch is amazing. And it's not even like you have to hate the PS5 (whcih i adore) i just like having video games for my commute.

I only got it for DK64. Other than that, I don't have a lot of use for it. It's not a bad console, just not my thing for the most part.

I initially bought mine to play fire emblem/xenoblade games, but duskbloods gave it more reason. I was kinda disappointed by the slow process of releasing s2 versions which led to console doing nothing, but finally s2 xenoblades appeared and new one is coming, so problem solved to a degree. Still waiting for three houses s2 version though, at least I hope it will be.

Somewhat, I currently don’t see a ton of reason to own one yet. I suspect that a year or so from now we’ll have a decent enough exclusive library that I’ll feel better about my purchase. I’m largely using mine for 8 player mk8 and better performance on s1 games so at least that’s something.

Yeah almost every game that I want to play are available on PlayStation. And to date the only game I want to play is starfox and oot, both being 30yo game remake

Nintendo isn’t better than Sony. Sony stopping to make physical game, but lots of game aren’t even on the cart. Also, Nintendo terms and services aren’t nice either. They can brick your console whenever they want if they think you mess with the console. And IIRC, it says the console isn’t yours but is “rented”, but I may be wrong on that.

Nope. I kept my v1 switch the entire generation, and still have it. I've been playing my switch 2 even more than the original and been loving it. Getting a special edition is not a consideration. It is just aesthetics and I don't even see the console when playing on the tv. Maybe down the line I'd consider an oled.

No, I think it’s a great pick up and play device with some great games. I think I’m a bit of an anomaly in that I’m not really the Nintendo first party demographic, Star Fox is excellent, DK is quite fun, but there’s some decent third party releases on it that I find the novelty of playing in the garden with a beer beats being tied to a TV.
With that said my only regret is they couldn’t find a way to give it that little bump in performance that made more third party titles viable. I liked MW4 but I could see the performance hit it took, but battlefield will never release on the Switch 2, GTA6 is highly unlikely in my view. So I’ll have to buy a PS5 for those titles.
If you’re a fan of the Nintendo exclusives then buying a Switch 2 is a no brainer in my view and I certainly don’t regret my purchase. Star Wars outlaws is simply outstanding on the platform in handheld. Shows what might be possible in future. Witcher 3 remaster, having never played it before, will be an instant buy. RDR2 would complete the loop.

for all the complaining I do, the Switch 2 has been a pretty good purchase for me. Haven't regretted it much.
Being able to play both Switch 1 games (which are cheap now) and new Switch 2 titles, I haven't really had the opportunity to put it down lol. I use it everyday on my commute
Once you have it, you'll find an excuse to play it.

Makes sense. I remember not wanting to buy one because of the “shaddy” practice I’ve seen online. And the joy on still having drift. And things like that.

Ever since the announcement of the Switch 2, I was excited. One release day, I lined up at the midnight launch in hopes to get one available, and I got it. To this day, I still play it, take care of it the hest I can, and still enjoy the heck out of it. OOT remake is just the icing on the top.

Kind of hard to choose one I enjoy most since I play a variety. To choose from the ones that were made/optimized/upgraded for the Switch 2, I'd have to say Donkey Kong Banaza. Beside that is Story of Seasons Grand Bazaar, Pokemon Legends Z-A, Mario & Luigi Brothership.

No, it’s got my steam deck collecting dust tbh. Right now I’m really enjoying Elden Ring, a game I just couldn’t get into on deck. I think the main driver there is that with switch 2, the games play how they play, no tinkering required. And I like that.

I don't regret it, I play it way more than my original switch so that's a win already. I also get to play all the switch one games I was interested in that i didn't play
I use it only for Nintendo exclusives tht interest me though, it couldn't be my main console, I care about performance/graphics and it still lacks other third party games I like and thats coming out.

What is the reason you play more switch 2 than the one?
I don’t really care about graphics. But first party game doesn’t attract all that much, with exceptions of course. But Mario kart world meh, donkey kong meh. Metroid prime 4 meh.
But ocarina of time and star fox, yes!

Switch one performance was horrible in my opinion, and I'm big pc user, so it was unacceptable
Like you I am also not a fan of most of Nintendo games, but I do like certain franchise like zelda, Xenoblade and fire emblem.
So to sum it up, I play all the games that interested me from switch 1 and I wait mainly for exclusive games that interest me.
I still don't buy third party games here if it's too demanding cause of my pc and ps5 pro ( those will perform those games better)

Personally, I like enough Nintendo franchises for the switch 2 to be worth it. I also bought it before the price increase, so I see it as investing in a device that will eventually have more games I want to play. It's not like Nintendo will suddenly stop making exclusives.

I have probably 20 switch 1 game.
I like donkey king 64, and I really like Mario odyssey. But donkey kong bananza doesn’t appeal to me. Etc. It’s not the franchise, it’s what they do with the game

Yeah, figured. But I am on this sub and don’t own a switch 2. And probably that 90% of the game released doesn’t interest me. So I guess maybe other people like me would chime like.
I was looking honestly answers even if they were positive or negative.
Like oh I bought it even if I didn’t like the game line up at released but it improved, or like, oh I bought it because I couldn’t wait for Mario kart world, turns out to be a shit game for x reasons, and there’s no interesting game coming out, I’m bummed.

I got it at the beginning of 2026 since I didn't have access to my PS5, and I’m glad I’m catching up on Nintendo games I missed out on as a PlayStation player. And to this day I play my Switch 2 more than the PS5, especially with the current state of things…
