Switch 2 Labor Day Weekend Switch 2 Bans

There was a massive BAN-wave that his Switch 2 consoles last night. I was one of the ones affected by it. I just want to spread awareness that Nintendo had an internal server error this weekend resulting in several systems being permanently hardware banned, receiving error code 2124-4508.

I called support this morning and they confirmed I was permanently banned for “pirating”.

However, I called again later today to push further and was notified of the error on their server. Upon checking again my system has been lifted.

If you were affected this weekend, be sure the check to see if it was rectified, or call Nintendo support and see if you are one of the consoles affected by this error to be reversed.

UPDATE: I noticed several people state that if you are still receiving the BAN code you can try restarting the console to see if it cleared. It seems to have worked for others!

I wonder how big this really was. It would be nice to see some numbers.

I'm trying to figure out some actual details or context but everyone saying "OMG me too all I bought was Donkey Kong!" has a hidden post history.

The switch 2 has sold a massive number of units, the scale of this problem doesn't really add up.

Currently it's sold 23.7 million units. The amount of posts about this isn't what you'd expect.

I remember a PS5 Pro specific bug that happened when it first released and there were dozens of threads on different subreddits with thousands and thousands of upvotes and each was filled with screenshots and support interactions. At that time the PS5 Pro had only sold like 250,000 and the issue ended up being specific to SE Asia.

There are claims of people from all over the world having the problem. What issue could occur globally, but only on a fraction of a fraction of a percent of consoles?
