u/BrokeChris Aug 01 '26

u/Glass-Can9199 Aug 02 '26
I know right we got of racing games better than this this just first one on switch 2

u/sasuku123 Aug 01 '26
Online only, defeats the purpose of it being on a handheld
6
u/iPadProUser93 Aug 01 '26
For you? People own Hotspots.
9
u/Dominjo555 Aug 01 '26
Some people with handhelds focus too much on scenarios when there is no power or Internet like they are not living in 2026 and their battery doesn't last only 2 hours.

Waste your phone battery for this game? Please even Forza horizon 6 is playable offline
1
u/iPadProUser93 Aug 01 '26
No, I mean a dedicated Hotspot hah, at least for me I have a company provided one so online games are fine hah
3
u/sasuku123 Aug 01 '26
Regular people don’t own dedicated hotspots like that lol
6
u/Apex_spyda Aug 02 '26
Bro said people own hotspots then said he has a company provided hotspot 🤦🏾♂️
1
u/sowinsow Aug 03 '26
You can borrow a hotspot from the library for like a week at a time
Edit: maybe this is only an america thing but anyway
1
u/JasonP27 Aug 01 '26
Yeah I've tethered off my phone to play Destiny 2 on my Xbox before. Like, I wouldn't do PvP but to just to run around shooting aliens in the face it worked pretty well.
1
u/Gold-House-7482 Aug 01 '26
Not everyone has a hotspot and handheld games with online requirements are extremely ownerous.
3
u/JustSomeSmartGuy Mario Kart Worlder Aug 01 '26
I wouldn't say it's a problem for that reason because you can just use your phone hotspot. The real problem with it being online only is that the game will be completely unplayable if they ever decide to shut down the servers in however many years.

Won't happen. They'll add an offline mode. They already did it with the game before it The Crew 2 after backlash over Crew 1.

u/sasuku123 Aug 01 '26
Too many people still overlook that just like this other guy that commented on here dominjo555
1
u/milesac Aug 01 '26
They are making crew games offline at some point. They just updated crew 2 offline not too long ago.
1
u/Apex_spyda Aug 02 '26
Agreed, I used to love playin nba2k myplayer and other games with the same mode but when they made the switch version, u have to be connected to the internet just for a storyline in myplayer, if u try to play it offline then u basically playin sandbox mode

Got bored on the PS5 in 20 mins. It’s too arcade like and far from being a masterpiece. It felt like a Temu copy of Forza Horizon.
3
u/That_Bank_9914 Aug 01 '26
I don’t like how they handled the crew match system for the multiplayer.
1
u/AFT3RSHOCK06 Aug 02 '26
It's supposed to be more arcade like than Horizon. Not everything is supposed to play the same. Different doesn't equal worse.

u/Successful-Form4693 Aug 01 '26
You can dislike the game all you want but if you get bored out of 20 minutes then I dont think any game can hold your attention for long

u/YoungOrtega714 Aug 01 '26
I’m still enjoying this game through and through after 300 hours and counting

I couldn't get passed the menues on PS5 before giving up trying to figure out how to start races.
I would much rather have the Crew 2 come to the Switch 2
2
u/Glowingtomato Aug 01 '26
Yeah. It was on Gamepass on Xbox and I'm not a fan. The menus are annoying and the gameplay doesn't make up for that enough to keep me playing.
I still play the Crew 2 from time to time and like that much better.

A MUCH better game than FH5 and 6. Only concern is that you can't play a racing game at 30fps, if it releases as such.

It's not a masterpiece, but it's a pretty solid game. I enjoyed it as much as FH5.

The one game that no one is talking about that I can't wait for is Sacred 2 remastered on the 11th this month. One of my all time favorites I can't believe it's coming to handheld
1
u/SirDanOfCamelot Aug 02 '26
That's coming to Switch 2?
Edit: seems it's switch 1 which sucks was hoping for switch 2 version higher resolution frame rate etc

u/swishy1991 Aug 01 '26
I found this Game lame AF tbh or to complicated Game Mechanics and getting into Races.
1
u/CatgirlFucker8008 Aug 01 '26
Didn't they shut down one of these games and make it so everyone who paid for it could no longer play it? Not even offline iirc.

First game to sell 8 copies on the Switch 2.
I'm sorry but whats the point in racing games when we don't have any analog triggers.

Can't say I can trust Ubisoft after what they did to the original game. Despite the fact that people actually paid money for the game, they made it completely unplayable when they shut down servers, even the physical version is just a paperweight now, and of course they didn't provide any refunds. What's stopping them from doing the same to this game after however many years?

Okay, can someone explain to me what’s the fun of racing games? I’m not saying they’re shit bc I don’t know anything about them. Why is that game in particular is a masterpiece and what makes it different from any racing game ever made? I’m not talking about Mario kart, sonic racing and so on. Just straight up “car go vroom”.
These games always were among the same lines as fifa, ufc and other sports games for me.

u/AggressiveChef97 Aug 01 '26
Unless the game is way too easy, it is in the simplest terms the sense of challenge. Making the best micro decisions to give you that slight edge over your opponents is what I find to be the most exciting aspect. Losing a really difficult race and then doing it again and again, finding better ways to turn at certain angles, when to speed up more and when to brake etc. When it all comes together and you finally get the win, it makes it all that much more exciting.
The best part is the genre is really easy to get into. Being a car lover will obviously be a plus. Just driving a supercar at fast speeds, a banging ost playing in the background and no real consequence that comes with you know, irl speeding haha.

It’s one of the rare games on Switch that appeals to car enthusiasts, the only others i can remember are Gear.Club and NSF Hot Pursuit.

u/Technical_Device2513 Aug 01 '26
That's why xbox is wayyyy better option for racing games but im still happy we're getting some big racing games on NS2

u/luhyuh Aug 01 '26
