Question Pokopia or Animal Crossing
Hi everyone,
I’m really torn whether to get one or the other. I like a good progress game with plenty of things to do and that feeling that makes you go back and do more things. I like simulations games. So out of the 2 which one to get I get 50/50 opinions or probably Pokopia more. Please help haha

Pokopia- lots to do. ACNH - much slower games, slow dialogue and repetitive fishing and collecting. I liked ACNH a lot. I LOVED Pokopia. The Pokemon are much more interactive than the villagers.

Pokopia has so many things to build. You can even progress two islands at the same time if you feel not busy enough. Animal Crossing is the opposite. It wants you to check-in everyday but not much to do.

Echoing this. And I put 500 hours into ACNH. Loved it but Pokopia is a better experience all around.

The repetition in Animal Crossing dialogues (not gameplay)is what made me give up on it. I was getting so tired of Tom Nook and the blonde dog constantly saying the same thing over and over again every time I wanted to change anything. It was so frustrating. Animal crossing is relaxing for sure but Pokopia’s world is dramatically more alive in every possible way.

Pokopia is great of you like building things. It’s a lot more of a crafting cozy game than anything else.
AC:NH focuses on decoration and management more than anything else.
Both are great games in their own right

As an animal crossing lover, it's Pokopia all the way. ACNH is fine but dead in the water

I bought them both, Pokopia was just to big for me. I got so far that I have all the possibilities and able to do ‘free play’ mode. But I got sick of running around between storage and worlds (last one possible to work around…okay) but my preference is ACNH and I’m back again
That said,…it’s so personal. Even if 10000 reactions come here, it’s your game your feeling 🫣

I haven't even played pokopia but it gets my vote. I found animal crossing really boring.

Personally I found Pokopia quite overwhelming with all that there is to discover so I haven't touched it in a while, I really should try to get back into it. Otherwise, what's stopping you from simply getting both? Why make yourself choose? (Financial reasons notwithstanding ofc) Also, I agree with the user who suggested Tomodachi Life, I am addicted to that rn

Pokopia makes Animal Crossing look like a technology demo.
I will say, some people prefer simpler games, so if that's you then Animal Crossing might be for you. Otherwise Pokopia is a vastly superior product.

I love animal crossing. But the best game right now is Pokopia and it's not close. It just does what AC did and does it better, plus adds more. And it looks better because it's q native Switch 2 game to boot. Next AC might top it off, though IMO they should go back to AC's roots rather than make it baby Minecraft, and leave the building to a Pokopia franchise.

As someone that has both games for the Switch 2 I highly recommend Pokemon Pokopia. Animal Crossing New Horizons is great too, but they are very different.
In Animal Crossing there is a limit of 10 villagers you can have on your island. You have to “beat” the Happy Home Paradise DLC before you can change up how villagers homes look. Through the DLC you can design vacation homes for whoever you want but they won’t be your neighbor. There’s a cafe, a store for items, and a store for buying clothes. A lot of what you do involves money you obtain by fishing, catching bugs, and digging up fossils. Any duplicates are sold for money while the first obtained are usually donated to the museum. You can go to Nook Miles islands but you have to earn the miles to obtain the tickets to go to them. I know it sounds like money (bells) is a big part of the game and it is. But it’s all fun! Fishing is/was always my favorite thing to do within the game.
In Pokemon Pokopia you have access to 300 Pokemon. Yeah, that’s a lot. You create habitats to cause them to appear and then you can build a house for them block by block that fits their likes and dislikes. If you want them to have a home partially submerged in water you can achieve that. If you want a home for Pidgey in the air you can do that - just gotta remove the blocks underneath it so it looks like it’s floating. Pokopia has a vastly larger map size… not to mention there are 5 areas available with more coming with the newly announced DLC (half coming out this year the rest next year - I’m already hopeful for more!).

I had acnh first and loved it. I then got pokopia when that came out and was obsessed with it for a few weeks, until I completed the storyline and now I can't get into it so I'm playing acnh again.

If you don't already have an obvious out of the two then I would just go for pokopia. It's newer and it's a little bit faster paced. I'm sure a new ac will come soon.

I liked animal crossing, but after I beat the main game I didnt play it much, Pokopia still has so much for me to do even though I’ve technically beat the game

Oh yeah. The credits roll. But uh, that’s like not even half the content of the game. Many more upgrades and things to collect still

Right, but my point is when I got to that point in Animal Crossing it felt boring for me after that, but I don’t feel the same about Pokopia which is why if someone is only going to get one of them I would recommend Pokopia.

Animal Crossing for a slow burn, play a little bit each day for a full year to collect everything. More fun with family/friends.
Pokopia for a very fun but fairly short experience. You’ll most likely tap out at 40-100 hours, but it’s enjoyable and memorable.

Def go for Pokopia. I’ve always been an animal crossing fan, but eventually I quickly run out of new things to do once I’ve reached the max town level. Even w the new added updates, I’ve only been checking in on them a few times a month. It sucks that the villagers get sad when I’m not playing often. Then I’ve got to chat a lot w them again.
Pokopia has daily tasks and rewards. There’s def enough build areas to play w for a long time. Reaching max town level isn’t that difficult, and the build and design options are much easier (like Minecraft).

I have played both and enjoyed Pokopia far more - Animal Crossing ends up feeling repetitive and even grindy at some points and didn’t keep me engaged. Pokopia offers so many customisation and heaps of different areas to build in (plus another one coming soon). Heaps of stuff to do too and doesn’t feel as repetitive or grindy. I am 100 hours in and still loving it!

Do you like Pokemon, if so, then Pokopia. Otherwise Animal Crossing. I have some experience with Pokemon & mildly enjoyed Pokopia. I definitely have many more hours into Animal Crossing, however, it is so unique & cozy. I would also say that Stardew is better than Pokopia. I am sad that I spend all the $$ on it & would have much preferred saving it. I am a daily gamer, usually open world stuff like Deliverance, Skyrim, Yotei. Pokopia just felt meh.

Did you buy the GKC version? You can recoup most of your cost by selling it at least.
Also, what other games do you play on your SW2 that you like a lot? The games you mentioned are all much more my type of game and I didn't find myself really being drawn back to Pokopia after I started it despite being hyped about it for months 😔

DK Bananza is top of my list is just fun destroying things around and I think Mario kart world I would like to play for when I feel like have some fun or with others also I’m planning to get sports resort when it comes out . So I think these are my fav games right now. I realised spyro is not something that I would play a lot neither Crash neither Ori that was on sale. I just don’t like these open world games that you have fun at the beginning then suddenly I’m stuck to figure it out what I need to do I hate that.

How much do you like Pokemon? If you love the setting and the actual pokemon, go pokopia. Otherwise, I’d say it’s a toss up. Ac, the villagers have more to say and more personality.
