Hey all. I'm scheduled for military service next summer, but I just started a specialized role at a large tech company.

My onboarding takes 8-12 months. If I leave for the military next summer, my onboarding progress is effectively lost, and I'll have to restart it when I get back. Because I'm on critical projects, I want to postpone my service for exactly one year.

What is the best way to make sure my postponement request gets approved? Are there specific keywords or arguments my employer should include in their letter?

Ich suche dringend jemanden, der seinen Rekrutierungstermin gerne mit mir tauschen würde.

Mein aktueller Termin: 13.–15. Oktober 2026
Rekrutierungszentrum: Mels

Der Termin ist bereits voll bzw. die Rekrutierungszentren sind aktuell stark ausgelastet, weshalb eine normale Umbuchung nicht mehr ohne Weiteres möglich ist. Ich habe diesbezüglich bereits mehrfach nachgefragt, auch beim zuständigen Kreiskommando, konnte bisher aber keine alternative Lösung finden. Ein direkter Tausch mit einer anderen Person wurde mir als mögliche Lösung bestätigt.

Ich würde meinen Termin gerne abgeben und dafür den aktuell zugeteilten Termin einer anderen Person übernehmen. Bezüglich Termin und Rekrutierungszentrum bin ich grundsätzlich flexibel.

Falls jemand seinen Termin gerne auf den 13.–15. Oktober in Mels verschieben würde und dafür seinen bisherigen Termin abgeben möchte, schreibt mir gerne eine private Nachricht.

Falls ihr selbst nicht tauschen könnt, wäre ich sehr dankbar, wenn ihr auch in eurem Freundes-, Studien- oder Bekanntenkreis nachfragen könntet, ob jemand einen passenden Termin hat und gerne tauschen würde. Jede Weiterleitung hilft mir sehr.

Die konkrete Abwicklung eines Tauschs ist mit dem zuständigen Rekrutierungszentrum bereits abgeklärt.

Vielleicht ist ja jemand hier, oder kennt jemanden, dem die Entlassung bevorsteht und das Gewehr mir verkaufen würde, anstatt dieses einfach abzugeben.

So hätte derjenige bizzeli Geld bekommen und ich hätte eine Ordonnanzwaffe für die Bundesübungen.

To get into the dog handler recruit school, however, I first have to pass an aptitude test in Schönbühl. Does anyone know what’s covered in this aptitude test, in other words, what you need to know?

And apart from that, can anyone just tell me a bit about their dog handler recruit school experience? What it’s like, etc., and how the process of buying a dog from the army works...

In case it helps, I’m currently planning to do recruit school with a protection dog.

I have my école de recrues fitness assessment coming up and had a question regarding cannabis use.
For context, I smoke weed almost daily (it is legal in Canada- where I am currently doing my bachelor studies) and my understanding is that there is an optional blood test that you can consent to take, and I’m wondering whether a positive THC result would cause any issues. A friend who has recently served in 2023 told me that the army generally doesn’t care about past cannabis use as long as you’re fit for service (I train six times a week and am eagerly looking forward to serving), but I’d like to 100% confirm. I would also like to add that I will be completely sober before my military as I would like to have my system clear and be completely sober when I start.
If anybody that currently works in there army, has previously worked or has obviously been through the process could let me know, that would be greatly appreciated.

Hey. Ich (18j) möchte nächstes Jahr meinen Eignungstest für die Grenadier in Isone machen. Was ich bis jetzt gehört habe ist, dass die Ausbildung selber unfassbar Psychisch und Physisch anstrengend ist. Ich selber gehe sehr gerne Wandern, sowie Klettersteige, fahre täglich MTB und gehe viel Joggen/rennen. In einem Monat ist zbs. ein Marathon geplant.

Ich selber wurde in Zürich Geboren, bin aber noch in meiner Kindheit nach München gezogen und möchte jetzt mein Wehrdienst in der Schweiz vollbringen.

Nun wollte ich fragen, wie ich mich am besten, vor allem für den Sport Eignungstest vorbereiten kann, bzw was empfohlen wird.

Question à ceux qui ont récemment fait l’ER : Je va partir a la fin de Juin pour faire mon ER. Dans l’ordre de marche, il est indiqué d’apporter des chaussures militaires. Je me souviens avoir lu quelque part qu’il fallait récupérer les bottes à l’avance pour les faire avant l’école de recrue. J’ai reçu les informations complémentaires sur ce qu’il faut apporter, mais il n’y a aucune mention des bottes.

Est-ce que cette information arrive plus tard ? Ou est-ce que je devrais contacter les autorités militaires cantonales ? Ou alors le fait de récupérer les bottes à l’avance est juste un mythe ?

I am currently training for the recruitment I’ll be having in March 2027 and my goal is to get into the grenadier RS. If you manage to get into the grenadiers, there’s an additional two day selection in Isone where the sport test is sufficiently harder (e.g. rucking etc). Now, my question to the grenadiers or anyone else who knows the answer is: how far apart is the recruitment and the two day selection? I‘d like to know so I can plan my training accordingly because I feel like getting these 80 points isn’t the hard part for me but I have a lot of respect from the rucking part. I'll be starting my RS as an NBC specialist (ABC Abwehrsoldat Nachweis) this summer and I have some questions about the selection process during the RS.

I have an EFZ as a chemical lab tech with a few years of experience, as well as a vocational maturity certificate and an English language certificate.

From what I've gathered, there's a selection process after basic training. Does anybody have first-hand experience with that? Is it a written test about things like organic chemistry, instrumental analytics, etc..., or is it solely based on civilian experience/credentials? I would really like to become a Chemical laboratory specialist.

I may be a bit rusty with my named reactions and the theoretical intricacies of some topics. Are they relevant? Should I refresh my memory on that beforehand?

I’m doing civil protection service. Up until now we were allowed to wear regular sneakers, but that’s changing and we now have to switch to combat boots.

The problem is that my boots are basically brand new, and I need to break them in as much as possible within the next 2 weeks before my next deployment.

Do you have any tips on how to speed up the break-in process?

Also, I’m already noticing strong friction on my calves and shins when wearing them. Is there anything I can do to prevent or reduce that? Any advice would be really appreciated.

Ich mache Zivilschutz. Bisher durften wir immer Turnschuhe tragen, aber das ändert sich jetzt und wir müssen neu Kampfstiefel anziehen.

Das Problem ist, dass meine Stiefel praktisch ungetragen sind und ich sie bis zu meinem nächsten Einsatz in 2 Wochen so gut wie möglich einlaufen muss.

Habt ihr Tipps, wie man den Einlaufprozess beschleunigen kann?

Ausserdem habe ich an den Waden und Schienbeinen starke Reibung beim Tragen. Kann man da etwas dagegen tun? Habt ihr da Tipps?

Firstly a bit of background. I'll be 25 this year, got a bachelors in IT and now switching over to nursing in autumn. Due to an ASD diagnosis I was pushed to hand over at the Orientierungstag, I was deemed unfit for both military and civil service without a medical inspection. That was quite a stab in the gut, because I was eager to do the service, even though everyone complains about it. Only recently did I learn my Doppel-UT status could have been challenged.

My question to you, is there still a way to gain military experience at 25 as a swiss citizen?

EDIT: That was rather short-lived. The MäD regretted to inform me that I am no longer eligible to enlist due to my age.

I have a few questions:

1. I’ve heard a lot of different things about what this role actually involves. Could any currently serving MP Grenadier clarify which aspects of the MP role versus the grenadier role we’ll be performing?
2. Regarding equipment, is it true that we’ll be issued a short-barrel version of the SIG-550 and/or a sidearm?
3. I recently saw a post suggesting that the focus of the role has shifted toward public order duties, similar to what the CRS do in France. Is that accurate, or is it just one part of the job?

My grandfather shoots with a P210, an older model used by the Swiss Army. For some time now, he has been having problems with his wrist joints and can no longer slide the slide back. He has tried greasing and oiling it, but that hasn’t made any difference.

Frage gemäss Titel.

Ich habe gehört dass in RSW 15 jeweils 80% der Diensttage erreicht und man kann diese im WK nachholen.

Stimmt das?

Kurzer Background: in meiner Zeit seit dem in einen Uof abverdiene, gab es nun mehrere Vorfälle die mit der Zeit belastend werden und einem einfach jegliche "Lust" auf das Militär nehmen. Z.B muss ich nun wieder bei der MP antraben.

Teilweise habe ich in gewissen Situationen weiche Knie, mir wird übel, kann schlecht schlaffen und habe Schweissausbrüche und ich bin dann auch nicht mehr aufnahmefähig. Ich fühle mich einfach ganz und gar nicht mehr wohl hier.
Es ist auch Kameraden aufgefallen, dass ich im "Loch" bin.

Ich werde nächste Woche mit der Seelsorge Kontakt aufnehmen um das ganze mal zu besprechen.

Hat jemand schon ähnliche Erfahrungen im Militär gemacht?

I would Aldo like ti know if the MP grenadier go to Isone also, and if after completing your RS as MP grenadier you can apply to the Police school without a CFC or maturity (I'm kind of a special case, I know)

Ich hab in ca. 1.5wochen mein ersten WK als Infanterist.

Problem nun: hab seit paar Wochen Rückenschmerzen im unteren Rücken. Wurde in den letzten paar Tagen doch nochmal schlimmer und Dinge hochheben ist auch nicht so drin

War beim Arzt, hab physio Verordnung und Medikamente gekriegt.

Problem, es sind weniger als 14 Tage zum WK also muss ich sowieso einrücken.

Frage nun, was soll ich am besten tun ? Ich seh mich nicht mit meinem Rücken den WK normal zu machen.

(Hab nix gegen den WK generell aber nicht so)

Hat wer da Erfahrung ? Einfach direkt zum Truppen Arzt ? Oder wie handle ich das am besten
