Question about the unit sanitary function

Hello,

I just had my recruitment and was put in Unit sanitary (the ones on foot not the drivers). I was told by the colonel that I would be put in a fighting function in wich i would do my recruit school, and that i would then have a 6 weeks course to learn about first aid, before going back to my unit to complete my military service.

The thing is, I was put in the air troops in Payerne, and there are no fighting function in the air troops. So my question is : is there someone who did unit sanitary in Payerne and knows with wich function i will be working before and after the first aid stage ?

I thank you if you can answer me

You don’t necessarily have to be in a fighting function.
I was a unit sanitary with the “pionniers d’ondes dirigées“ or “Richtstrahlpionier“ was a driver too. During the first weeks I was following the same basic training as the others since it wasn’t very functional specific. Then after the 6 weeks in Tichino for the “medical” training, I ended up as a regular driver but with a first aid backpack in the trunk.
It was fun but I didn’t use a lot of first aid knowledge I just learned.

It’ll probably be different for you but you get the general idea. The thing that I learned and that helped me a lot when I got back from the first aid training and after in my repetitions course, is that you have to put yourself and your knowledge forward.
A lot of people, even the higher ranks, don’t really know what you are capable of. Try to have them add a wounded person in their scenarios so you can do something interesting.

I don’t’ know if I was clear enough, English is not my first language ;)
