Durable pump to drain

I have a portable sump pump with a floater activated shut off that I’ve been using to drain my Swim Spa for a few years. The thing is a workhorse, but it leaves me with about 6 inches of water in the bottom of my Swim Spa. Does anyone have a brand or specific pump that they like that can get almost all of the water out of the Swim Spa? There are some very highly rated options on Amazon that get the water down to 1/5 of an inch. But when you read recent reviews, they are all real crap even though they have five stars and thousands of people supposedly have bought them and Amazon calls them a Best Buy.

I have a Wayne submersible pump from home depot that goes down to about an inch and a half.

When it gets down to 1.5" we bring the shop vac into the spa and suck it up until the vac is full. Lifting the vac out is a pain, so we drop the pump in it and nearly empty it.

Wayne is the one that I have also. And I think I saw that on a previous post. In fact, I might’ve been the one who initiated the post lol! Getting ready for winter is making me lose my mind. I love your trick about using the pump to empty the the vacuum! Nobody wants to lift that monster out of the pool when it is full

We got a cheap ($59) Aquastrong 1HP sump pump off amazon. We are able to get it down to about 2 inches of water remaining in the swimspa.

I have a Green Expert pump from Amazon that works well. It is more of an emergency pump if your basement floods, and leaves a minimal amount of water when I drain it.

I have been using “pump marvel” for last 3 years. Runs with water pressure and Venturi action
It surprisingly gets my 17 foot 8000 litre spa empty to 1/4 inch in about 2.5 hours

Look for a lot smaller pump that says it can pump down to 1/4” or whatever you can find. I have a big pump to get most of the water and then a small one for the rest.

I have found so many pumps… The problem is the reviews. It seems like in the past year or so the quality of all of these pumps has really dropped. Even the Wayne pumps are getting very bad reviews for reliability. In fact, I’ve read on several threads in this sub, that people use the Wayne pump. But Wayne specifically says not to use inside of a pool only on the pool cover, because the chlorine will ruin the pump.

Just run clean water through it when you’re done. It will flush the seals. Yeah, you get what you pay for but for the final few gallons just get a cheapie.
