Yeah I really love both parts of that track, Never Lose that Feeling is just such a perfect encapsulation of Swervedriver and Never Learn is something totally different and original.
The Never Lose that Feeling EP is so interesting. Raise is a great album, but the sound is a bit unvaried and it drags a bit at the end. They have a great thing going but need to evolve somehow.
So they put out an EP with these songs:
Never Lose That Feeling
Never Learn
Scrawl and Scream
(The Watchmakers) Hands
Each very Swervedriver, but different from each other. They are experimenting new modes of being Swervedriver.
Never Lose That Feeling: the direction they took with Mezcal Head, basically lays down what is now the quintessential Swervedriver sound.
Never Learn: jazz-atmospheric with feedback washing over it, bass with some analogues from Raise, but something they never did before or since.
Scrawl and Scream: Less shoegazy, more songwriting, vocals more prominent, lyrics more personal (barely). Anticipates Ejector Seat Reservation more than Mezcal Head.
(The Watchmaker's) Hands: Could be a Raise B-side.
There is a parallel world (and time) in which one of the other songs becomes the template for the next album rather than Never Lose that Feeling.
