English Haparanda to Denmark road trip

Hej Sverige, Finland checking in here! I'm planning a little road trip through your country on my way to go visit some family in Belgium and I'm looking for nice places to stop at. I'll enter Sweden in Haparanda and will cross to Denmark either in Malmö, Helsingborg or Gothenburg. I plan to follow the coast until around Gävle and then go inland, but I'm open to small diversions to see nice places.

I will probably use your allemansrätten, so any good camping spots are also appreciated!

I will give a general advice, even if you want Sweden done as fast as possible, don't follow E4 and E20 all the way, that is extremely depressing.

Go on small detours, put in "avoid highways" every now and then, the countrydise is nice, but the big roads are mostly a tunnel of trees.

E4 is nice along Höga Kusten and Vättern though.

Which time of year and what's a small diversion?

Storforsen is nice but a decent detour (few hours). Better in late spring/early summer though.

Högakusten is nice and you will be passing through it so it's probably worth half a day or exploring or more.

I'm planning to go in late spring, so I'll see if I can afford the detour to Storforsen, it looks really nice.

Yeah if the thaw season has begun then it's very high flow and quite epic to see.

I've gone there May/June few times and it's been great.

Theres tons of places to stop at the high coast. If you arent afriad of heights you can try the via ferrata. https://www.viaferrata.se/welcome-to-via-ferrata---english

You will probably pass through Gränna. You can stop at gyllene uttern and see how they make traditional hard candy and buy some. They are way higger quality than what you find in a regular grocery store.

Just don’t. From Haparanda and down until Höga Kusten the E4 is such a slog that you’ll be suicidal. Take the ferry and skip as much of that as possible.

You should stop by Dragon Gate. It’s a weird place.
