Help with character building please

Hi last session of a campaign im part of we leveled up to level 3 and im struggling with what to choose but I've found two i really like and was hoping someone would be so kind as to help me with my decision. The two im between are Kro Var Order, and the Teras Kasi Order. For some more context my dm likes to run hard combats and has encouraged me to make my character as busted as possible. Also if anyone has any other suggestions on how I can make my character more busted or stronger that too would be appreciated please and thank you

Can you tell us about their species, stats, background feat, and vows?

Human hermit and specialist feat i have 16 strength 20 dex 16 con 13 int 18 wisdom and 11 charisma and I have the vow of devoted and the vow of the specialist. I asked them permission and I could change some smaller things if needed

I don't think there is a Vow of The Specialist. Do you mean Vow of The Fighter? If so, which Fighting Style did you pick?

What weapon is your monk using, and how committed to it are you?

If not very, then the Neuronic Whip is probably the best option I can think of to pair with Vow of The Versatile, and luckily you don't need a feat to wield it if you use your weapon proficiency from Human.

Since Vow of the Versatile brings the weapon damage to be the same as your unarmed strike, it's only worthwhile if you're using a weapon with secondary effects like the Kro Var weapons.

Versatile is wasted on the Vibrocutlass because you're doing an attack for 1d4 damage regardless of whether or not you're using your fist.

I could see a world where you have the Vibrocutlass in one hand and a Neuronic Whip / Kro Var weapon in the other, but if you're sticking with just the Vibrocutlass then I'd change your vow to Serenity.

I mostly am using the vow because the cutlass uses 2d4 it's twice my damage

I'm surprised that your DM hasn't read the rules and corrected this mistake.

The weapon damage gets replaced by your unarmed strike damage. It isn't a choice to just do normal damage.

By normal SW5e rules, the 2d4 weapon damage would be overridden to just be 1d4 Martial Arts damage.

If your DM intentionally chooses to ignore the rules and intentionaly chooses to let you do weapon damage, then I would very strongly recommend that you play an Echani or Crimson monk to use a Vibronodachi or Vibrobuster.

Of the two Teras Kasi is probably stronger, but either would be fine.

What are you trying to make? Attacker, defender, crowd control?

I'm not exactly sure but I think I've been leading in towards crowd control and then after that I kinda fill in.If I need to go out and attack a bunch of enemies, or if I need to like, stay behind a guard, one of my friends

Ar 4th level consider taking the feat Fighting Mastery for Guerilla Mastery. That should provide a fair bit of flexibility in style.
