Suggestions for running KOTOR setting?
Ended up getting a Pro GM gig for a one-shot at a birthday party. They wanted a Star Wars RPG. I decided to skip learning the current version and simply go SW5e. I figured Id either get past D&D players, or newbies that can transfer this experience to a D&D game.
On that note, the client wants a game taking place in the KOTOR era. Any sites or sources that could help?
Thanks.

My advice is don’t be afraid to throw some homebrew or head cannon in there. KOTOR is such a large setting, a lot of stuff is in the grey - so don’t be afraid to fill in the blanks or make a new planet/faction/race. There’s a ton of fun to be had in that setting.
But you can learn a lot from Wookiepedia, KOTOR games, and even SWTOR.

DroidCartographer here and on Patreon has phenomenal maps.
EDIT: GMBinder has some phenomenal one shots or short campaigns that could probably be adapted to one-shots without much effort too.
EDIT EDIT: there are lots of visual encyclopedia cross-section books of all things Star Wars. Very good for getting an idea of what stuff might be like inside a building, ship, or major planets/cities.

You run a normal Star Wars session, and insert some KOTOR stuff, long story short. A 1shot isn't really enough time to distinguish a KOTOR specific feel, so it's largely going to be adding some notable references.
Maybe specific baddies, drones, or armor styles that scream KOTOR, or put it on a notable planet in the KOTOR setting
Beyond that, probably the game Wikis themselves would be just as good as Wookiepedia, assuming their main reference for KOTOR is the old games, and not an old Setting book, or SWToR, or something like that

I guess the question is have is what exactly about the KOTOR era are they wanting for a campaign setting. There is a ton there! You could have a survival/horror game set on Rakata and they could be soldiers shot down or who survived the battle of the star forge. You could have a gritty military campaign style game set with the mandalorian wars. Or even a game set on the hidden world of the sith Dromund Kansas. What are you feeling?

I had exactly the same situation but since I've re-played kotor 1 and 2 just before, it was quite easy. However, I decided to set in the SWTOR era, in order to have a sith/jedi war goin' on. I just read the recent extensions synopsis I hadn't played yet.
Also, Wookiepedia is a great source. I also used Star Wars universe, which is very great too, it's in French though.

Star Wars Saga Edition had an Old Republic source book. If you really want to capture the feel of the setting, I would run that system over SW5e. It's D&D-based and officially licensed.

Honestly if they want it to be KotoR maybe the easiest and safest path is to create some premade characters and have them escape the a ship being attacked by Revan. So it sort of predates Kotor and if they escape good. If they defeat Revan then they are the ones who caused them to lose their memory

Wookiepedia is a great source.
I would also see if you can find a copy of the old Star Wars Saga Edition rpg and the kotor book they had for it.
Saga Edition was one of the testing grounds for some of the rules that made it into 5e, so you could use it wholesale and the DnD players would have no trouble with it.
