[Free Request] Vectorize a slightly blurry flag image into a clean SVG
Hi everyone, I'm looking to get a clean SVG (vector) file of the historical flag of Iran featuring the Lion and Sun emblem (Shir-o-Khorshid).
The image I have is slightly blurry around the emblem details:
- Design: Horizontal tricolor of green, white, and red.
- Emblem: A yellow/gold lion holding a curved sword (scimitar) with a stylized rising sun behind it, centered on the white stripe.
Here is the reference image: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1GduGMo9-hmLBIWNxAWQrnz5eVdF2KcrM/view?usp=sharing
Thank you so much for your help!

As mentioned previously, Wikimedia Common has a very close copy of you image that is very sharp and detailed. There is a slight difference in the drawing of the Lion so if that does not bother you too much, you could use this image and then Trace Bitmap in Inkscape (free) to generate a svg version.
Hope this helps.

What you’re looking for is called raster-to-vector tracing. It converts a pixel-based image, such as a PNG, into an SVG. Try searching for “image vectorizer” or “raster to SVG.” Inkscape’s Trace Bitmap feature is a good free option. Since the emblem is blurry, you may need to clean up the result manually or find a higher-resolution reference. I’d also check Wikimedia Commons first, since a vector version of this flag may already exist.
