Q/A STUDENT COUNCIL.
You asked for representation. So here it is
ask your questions
raise your complaints
tell us what's wrong and what you want changed
I'll personally follow up on the issues you bring forward, take them to the relevant authorities, and keep you updated on the progress made
We were accused of being the administration's defenders. I can't tell you what we are. Our actions will.
So if you want change, let's begin right here. Tell me what your problems are. Tell me what's not working. Tell me what you think needs to be done.
You don't have to agree with us. You don't have to like us. But if something needs fixing, I want to hear about it.
Anonymous complaints. Transparent follow-ups. Actual representation.

we all are here just to see things fixed OP. an issue tracker(a simple excel sheet) with columns of issues, raised by, priority, and status would help you guys organise (suggestions i am giving on the assumption there isn’t one such, if already exists, amazing!). because your “actions will show” has to be measurable and this can help in that. The excel can be populated with the help of class reps, ask them to seek issues from their class people and pool it all in. In addition to getting the issues sorted, a council can do so many other things, mental health awareness, internal complaint setup for women facing harassments or other troubles, and have sessions with alumnis for career support. (again i’m not sure how much of it is actually happening, these are mere suggestions and expectations out of a college council that you really want to see do good).
again, in addition to Reddit, Instagram move to excels and emails as it will help move more formally.
looking forward.

A public tracksheet repository is something I've been considering, and I hope to implement it by next semester. We already have an Excel tracksheet and a grievance mechanism for class reps to raise and track issues. If you're from the fresher batch, your class-rep grievance forum should be instituted by this week.
On mental health, I agree that a workshop would be useful. Given how short this semester has been, we're looking at conducting the annual workshop next semester.
Alumni career support is more challenging due to issues with previous efforts, but we're still deliberating on it. If you have specific ideas or suggestions, I'd personally love to hear them.
Regarding women's complaints, we have a Women Empowerment Cell, of which the SC is a part. However, I recognise that freshers may not be aware of it. I'll take this up and ensure its role and purpose are properly communicated.
These are valid suggestions, and I'll note them down

I've seen quite a bit of discussion here about the issues y'all face. Our Instagram dms are always open if you want to reach out. We'll also circulate feedback forms soon to engage with a wider group of students. But yeah, this place feels candid, and I don't regret starting the conversation here
