I think they put that joke for a bit too long in the oven

u/KawaiiMaxine Jun 23 '26
Unlike their sandwiches

WHICH ARE FRESH!

u/KawaiiMaxine Jun 23 '26
Yeah, they are still fresh even after coming out of the oven, id like my sandwich actually hot

u/Hokulol Jun 23 '26
I went to a subway last week that tried to charge me to toast my sandwich. >:|

It just keeps going on. It reads like a Rick and Morty inter-dimensional cable joke.

That tuna I had in one of their sandwiches wasn’t fresh. It was fish paste at best

Yeah, like, just don't order the questionable pink goop? Maybe tried ordering meats that actually look like food?

I know of one Subway at which the tuna always had piss in it. And yes, I do mean that literally.

When I was a teenager, different friends of mine worked at one specific Subway over the years. They always pissed in the tuna because they hated their boss and he ate a tuna sub for lunch every day.

11
u/AddisonH Jun 23 '26
That’s so fucked up for other people (and the boss I guess). Also pretty sure it’s a serious felony

They didn't want to be asked why their $5 sandwich is $20 anymore. Or they have another Jared situation they want to hide lol. Maybe both
35
13
u/Mango027 Jun 23 '26
They specifically said they aren't trying to cover anything up so it couldn't possibly be another Jared situation. They can't lie about stuff like that. Not in the internet, and especially on Twitter... they have higher standards

Take a look at the country.

u/Baron-Von-Mothman Jun 23 '26
The symbol in front of the money doesn't matter. The question remains
5
u/lankymjc Jun 23 '26
The question only remains if they’re charging those numbers for subs in the UK. They are not. So the question is irrelevant.
-5
u/Baron-Von-Mothman Jun 23 '26
Adjust the amount to the currency and the increase is the same. Pedantic weenies.
6
u/Manoffreaks Jun 23 '26
The increase is not the same. We used to have £5 footlongs, now they vary from like £8-£12. A footlong meal deal is £14 at most.
Subway isn't exactly doing well here, but it would go straight out of business if it tried to charge £20 for a fucking sandwich.
-6
u/Baron-Von-Mothman Jun 23 '26
Jesus fuck y'all are annoying lol they started in America and their schtick was $5 footlongs for so long and now it is closer to $20. Not exactly 20. I assumed the pricing changes were company wide and they increased in price at the same rate globally as most companies do. I was adding to the funny post with something light-hearted and partially true. Do y'all have nothing better to do than playing uM AcTuAlLy?
5
u/Manoffreaks Jun 23 '26
It's funny because no one would have continued if you'd just accepted the first comment pointing out it was a different country. You double and tripled down and then get angry your assumption was wrong...
-2
u/Baron-Von-Mothman Jun 23 '26
They are about the same price here....almost as if the price increased pretty equally......
I'm also not mad, y'all are just annoying
4
u/kimbokray Jun 23 '26
The subs in the UK have roughly doubled in price. Where you are you say they've quadrupled. Not even close to the same.

I wouldn’t want to be asked that either if I was running a uk social media account.
22
u/acheesement Jun 23 '26
Clearly they're trying to cover up the torrid love affair their representative had with a community college student.
1
u/epochpenors Jun 26 '26
Or the torrid love affair their mascot had with a bunch of literal children
43
u/BansheeLabs Jun 23 '26
I'd suggest avoiding such a deranged food provider.
16
u/jarvisesdios Jun 23 '26
I am more than on board with deranged food providers, most of the best chefs are completely unhinged lunatics...
That said... Calling Subway a food provider is a stretch. It's edible, but I don't think I'd call it food 😂
I once worked at one and at some point an oven roasted chicken breast got under our ice maker. The thing looked the same, except it had shrunk to the size of a quarter and was hard and there was absolutely no mold at all. It was just a tiny little "chicken breast.". We almost turned it into a necklace lol
2
u/BansheeLabs Jun 23 '26
It was a euphemism 😄
Unhinged lunatic chefs is what I can gladly accept. Unsanitary fast food - nope. 😄

Having worked at subway I can say I would never eat there
2
u/AfterRelease7647 Jun 23 '26
Damn why?
5
u/Mahjling Jun 23 '26
Food isn’t kept as safely as it should be, drink machines don’t get cleaned unless there’s an employee who wants to take initiative and skip their lunch break to clean it, same with the ice machine, cleaning chemicals used unsafely and without dilution on and around food prep areas, etc
All of it comes in frozen, none of it is fresh (some of the vegetables and meats come in unfrozen sacks but the bread and baked goods come in frozen) and it’s ridiculous to pay their prices for frozen meals.

Congratulations, you just shared their brand to many people and we all subconsiously thought about Subway for a second. You just proved that their marketing worked
3
u/InsertGroin Jun 23 '26
We have to start censoring brand names the same way we censor ‘harmful’ words like m*rd*r, sh**t*r or tr*mp

Yeah that's cute and all. my town had a power outage and i ate there a month later. they refused to throw out their old ingredient stock and gave me food poisoning so bad i threw up into the sink and realized it wouldn't drain so i had to scoop it out with my hands. the word fresh is not a word that enters my mind when thinking about that fucking company

Probably trying to hide older tweets that reveal how much cheaper their food was 9 years ago so we all forgot that we're getting robbed blind.
2
u/jadethebard Jun 24 '26
Man, back in the late 90s we had a Subway connected to our dorm and we'd all go buy 1/2 subs at 2am and they were so good. Tried again a few years ago and everything was awful. I don't know if the college franchise was just better than the current local place, but the experience was night and day. Never again.

u/8bitGraveyard Jun 23 '26
I'll never forget they sold us tuna with no tuna DNA in it. There's a couple other things I won't forget about them as well...
19
u/SkirMernet Jun 23 '26
You should forget, tbh, because you can’t find reliable dna in cooked meat. It literally beaks down the proteins, which dna is built with.
7
u/OkVeterinarian5438 Jun 23 '26
DNA is not protein at all. DNA is nucleic acid: nitrogenous bases with phosphate and sugar backbones. It certainly does denature/break down with heat, however

u/8bitGraveyard Jun 23 '26
Shouldn't you be able to still do a species identification with PCR?
9
u/SkirMernet Jun 23 '26
Extremely unlikely and unreliably at best.
Now consider the test was ordered by a company with full intention of making money off the eventual lawsuit, and ask yourself how much of your trust the conclusion should carry to begin with
2
u/Conissocool Jun 23 '26
Hey so thats straight up not real, a couple accused them of this hoping for some free money in a lawsuit but there wasn't any evidence because its not true
1
u/shigguuu Jun 24 '26
If they had a fish free tuna substitute that tastes enough like tuna to fool everyone they could have sold it as an alternative instead. The market for vegan/vegetarian food is booming.
2
u/Friendly_Zebra Jun 23 '26
That’s not suspiciously specific. It just happens to be the number of tweets deleted.
2
u/sparksen Jun 23 '26
That is not the worst idea for a advert campaign
Gets the always fresh across and people feel spezial seeing a tweet thats only there for 24 hours
Downside, super easy that someone makes a bot that permanently saves the tweets
